Question about wedding snapshot / pictures

Hi everyone,

This is my first time writing a post on VJ.

I've lived pretty much all my life in the States, but I'm still not super familiar with an "average" wedding planning here in the States.

My fiancee and I have currently submitted K-1 petition in April and plan to have a small wedding in the States once everything is approved.

Question I have is that we would like to take a wedding snapshot (photo) prior to having the actual wedding.

In South Korea at least, is seems to be the norm to take a wedding snapshot (photo) about 3 months prior to use them for wedding invitation and during the wedding itself.

Obviously we will be taking photos with tux and wedding dress and I would like to ask if this would be a potential red flag if posted in our SNS, saved on phone, etc?

I wouldn't take any photos that look like you are having a wedding ceremony (even just posing in wedding outfits) before you have the visa on hand and have entered the USA. Could you take the photos after your fiance arrives in the USA? That would be the safest option.

If you are going through the visa process and will be interviewing in Casablanca, Morocco, join us over at the

Why not taking instead engaged photos with formal dresses (not wedding dress on but instead a formal nice dress). I remember that when I came into the states under the K1, our photographer asked us if we wanted to take engaged photos to use in our invitations but we said no because we found it a waste of money. We did have wedding pictures though after the ceremony and while getting married.
I would not do the pictures because if someone sees them and you try to explain that they are like that because that's the norm in South Korea..well, they don't know you and will think you two got married outside the US.

I'm not super familiar with the wedding planning in the States either but don't some couples take engagement photos? I've seen some taken by professional photographers. Maybe that's something you're looking for.

They sure do sometimes...I just did an engagement photoshoot for a couple yesterday.

Although personally...

1) I would shy away from it for anybody dealing with a visa that requires them to be unmarried. It's just an unnecessary risk if the wrong person sees it. Photos can wait.

2) If somebody decided to do it anyway despite the warning above, I absolutely wouldn't suggest any kind of wedding attire. Trying to explain that probably won't fly.

Thank you all for the kind reply.

I will take up the advise on being careful on what we will wear during the shoot so it doesn't look anything close to a "wedding"
