 Hi Community,

Question is about the affidavit of support I-134 for K-1 Visa Interview.

My fiancee just got a new job and she got employment letter which says that she makes 44k a year. She started this job just 3 weeks ago.

Her tax return from 2017 shows 34k income per year. Then I-134 require all details regarding your current balance on your debit card...she has only 800 USD there.
Is this okay for I-134 and support of foreign fiancee or not? How much did you apply with?

Also one more thing...embassy website says that Documentation regarding financial support can be in any form – preferably one year of tax returns, W-2s, bank statements, earning statements, letters from employers.

So, we have one year of tax return, we don't attach W-2s, we attach bank statements and letter from employer.
Is this enough? Is it okay we don't do W-2?

Thanks for help :)

For a typical employee of a company/organization/whatever, evidence of current income best comes from pay stubs and an employment letter. The tax return may or may not be necessary for some countries with the I-864 (it is required for the I-864 for AOS later).

A tax return without all supporting schedules does not show much to a CO...anybody can fill out a 1040 and say they made $x but never actually filed the form. If showing a tax return, you must provide the 1040 + the supporting schedules (i.e. W-2s). Or, more simply, just send a tax transcript and not worry about the 1040 + W-2s (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript).

The CO makes the decision on the public charge concern based upon the totality of the circumstances.

For Ukraine the interview checklist states this:

"Evidence of support – from your American fiancé(e) – Affidavit of Support I-134 with the most recent tax return and/or W-2."

Most of the people who have commented about the interview in Kyiv have said they didn't even ask to see this stuff, but it's good to have it to take just in case. Kyiv is one of the better embassies to interview at from what i understand
