Can I get a passport stamp driving from Vancouver to Seattle?

hi all, 

 

So I am in the US on an L1 visa and my Irish passport expired and I had to get a temp passport to travel for work to Europe a month ago. When I reentered the US on my temp passport an it was stamped and a new i94 issued it means that my visa is now only valid for 6 months. 

 

Now I have a new 10 year passport I need a new reentry stamp. I will be in Seattle for a few days for work next week and I was thinking I could drive to Vancouver and come back into the US over the land border the next day. 

 

Will they give me a stamp and will a new i94 be registered? I have crossed the Canadian/US border in the past by car and they just checked my passport with no stamp. Can I request one?

Even better than asking us might be to call ahead to CBP at your planned port of entry (POE) with your questions.

Get the name of the agent with whom you speak, and the time & date of your call.

It might be better to ask for the shift supervisor.

The agents who work the traffic lanes aren't always in the best mood and aren't always the best sources.

 

I'm betting that you should bring ALL of your passports on your planned trip.

 

I cross the Texas/Mexico border often, and only in one little out-of-the-way place do the Mexicans stamp passports.

The U.S. ports never have.

However, if you asked, they'll probably let you pull over, go into the port building, and get a stamp.
