Hi all, so the us embassy in Santo Domingo has been holding our case in AP for over 60 days and today I received an email replying to my #100 inquiry asking whats going on. They are asking for his child birth certificate. I understand the child is included in the papers but at the moment the child is not coming to the US. Why would they need that info? Should I write to them and let them know she will be joining us in a year?

I'm not certain why they are asking for it now, but if they want it then you need to provide it.

 

For reference, they can apply for a K-2 via follow-to-join for up to a year after the K-1 is issued. After that, the child must be petitioned separately.

1/2/18: EAD + AP approved (no website update), 1/5/18: EAD + AP mailed, 1/8/18: EAD + AP approval notice hardcopies received, 1/10/18: EAD + AP received

9/5/18: Interview scheduled notice, 10/17/18: Interview

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

K-1:
