You might have to call USCIS, speak to an operator, and explain to them your situation

yeah I figured that but will have to wait until Thursday now

Hello all - I really hope that everyone that is waiting to hear back, hears back soon. I'll admit I'm a longtime lurker and a first time poster. My fiance and I filed our petition at the end of November. My fiance is from the Dominican Republic. I never received an NOA2 or anything but today I received an email from the Dominican Embassy saying that "This office is pleased to inform you that you can start the process of your fiancé/fiancée, K visa, application."

Does this mean its been approved?!!

Yes it's approved. Call your Embassy and get your case number and invoice number, I wouldn't call NVC to say you never received one or that may trigger and investigation and the return of your case like @sitta has stated. Once you are in the states and married, create and infopass at your local USCIS office and ask for a copy. Signify to them that you never received one. Be sure to check your "spam" file folder as sometimes it can land there.

Sounds like it.  I would call the NVC and see if they have a case number already.  This makes it sound like the embassy already has your petition.

You are right, the embassy does have her case and is ready for the interview after she follows the steps for the gather of documents etc.

Hi dear,I believe so...and I also think you should call NVC to get your case number.but don’t call USCIS to tell them you never received your NOA2 until after your interview or possibly after you land in the US...a similar situation happened in the December thread and now USCIS have called for that petition to be returned...I learnt you will need the NOA2 but just not at this stage.hope this helps.

Great answer. Yes indeed someone in December experience this. @sitta is right.

Hello guys, so we got our case number last june 27th through phonecall. But up to this time the status is still at nvc. Im just wondering if you guys have an idea on how long would it take before the status would change and why my fiancé doesn't receive any mail or email until now. And how long would it take before he can receive any email from nvc. Thank you, hope someone will give me an idea

It seems it takes at least two weeks. Join the June NVC subforum. There you will find a lot of information.

I was approved June 27 didn't get the letter until the 2nd of July. Now the hard part. Gathering the money for the upcoming fees. I read somewhere if an applicant that is under a certain age that goes for the medical exam has to go 4 days before the interview does anyone have any info on this

Doesn't sound feasible. Exam results/blood tests may not be ready and sent to the beneficiary within 4 days. Do not think they would ever enforce such a tight window of opportunity.

Where did you hear this? Can you post the link?

We just found out we were approved 7/3. No email/text, neither website updated. We had to call. Talked to a tier 2 and she said we were approved. She thinks they are having website issues as they migrate over to the new website.

Thanks everyone for any help provided.

Perhaps this a misunderstanding and is in reference to how TB is tested on children.   The hospital can not do an X-Ray on children, so they need to perform a skin test which requires a return to the hospital after 48 - 72 hours to determine results.   This will require additional time to complete the Medical evaluation, but certainly needs to be started much earlier than 4 days before the interview.

I'd recommend that you call your medical center and ask them and you can seek out someone who is near you in processing and ask them. Go to portals at the top of the page and scroll down the page and find others who are near you. It's on the left column. Or reach out to these members for help. Look for someone who is a month or two ahead of you as that has given them time to experience your question.

Its been a month.

You might try both options below.

First try shooting off an email to the Ombudsman at cisombudsman@HQ.DHS.GOV The Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent perspective to USCIS in an attempt to resolve problems.

Second try your U.S. representative's contact information can be found in this handy directory, and your U.S. senator's information is in this one.

According to the old site it sais our case hasn’t been updated since our NOA1 was sent. Does anybody know if security checks get sent off straight away or does our case have to touched and then security checks done??? If ours has t even been touched since nov 1st  then has anything even been done with it?

has a petition ever been lost?

The old site is now defunct. It's not being updated as they are phasing it out. So start to rely on the new site.

There is a procedure they follow, and that procedure is not transparent so it's hard to gauge where you are in the process. Having said that you must trust their process, or you are going to show signs of stress, agitation, you'll have moments of "I can believe this is happening to us" etc. To avoid those symptoms, you must realize that you are in a very normal process that will take from 7-8 months as evidence by others before you have experienced.  Yes, background and security checks are begin shortly after your file arrives at USCIS. Depending on your background and your country that will determine your timeline. Some countries take longer than others.

Petitions are RARELY miss placed or lost. You have a way of knowing approximately when your file will be complete.

Best recommendation is find others from your country who are close to you in the process and follow their timelines.

There are several tools available to you. Go up to Immigration Timelines on the blue ribbon above and select it. Once you are on the next page looked to your left and you will see a box that states, "find similar timelines" and select it. A list will populate with those who are processing close to your timeline. When they start to change you will soon be behind them. Also, there is another place you can go and follow others who are processing the same time you are and for the same Embassy. Go to the blue ribbon at the top of this page and select "portals". Scroll down the left-hand side of the page till you get to VJ "your country's name" Timelines. Just below it you'll see "K-1" so you select it and out pops a window with others from your country.
