Hello guys, helping a friend. She's an October filer but doesn't have the approval yet. I'm telling her to call her fiancé's district Congressman for assistance. Does anybody have an idea who to call, her fiancé is from California. tyia

I just got the NVC NUMBER AND THE INVOICE ID NUMBER

You should become familiar with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in the Colombian and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K1 Embassy Letter (EL) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

What are the basic information we need to prepare as the beneficiary while waiting for NVC number?

Im from philippines.

TIA!

Welcome to the thread and we are glad to have you here. Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.  BTW, look for Hank and let him know that you appreciate his website and the information it contains.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

They don't need to contact their Embassy. The Embassy will send them their packet. I will include a link for them to locate the P3 before the Embassy contacts them. No need to call and tie up the phone lines.

Lol. In my case if I hadn’t contact and correct them I would never get the packet 3 information, or scheduling my medical or interview, or even knowing what the hell happened with our case.

When faced with adversity you need to take the bull by the horns. For you it was the right thing to do. He now has something to work through till his information is received from his Embassy. Each Embassy is different. Good luck to you

Why do you say that?

Explain how your NVC case number has any relevance to the DS160?

Not exactly sure what you are asking.

And I'm not sure what your embassy's procedure is for issuing interview dates (try searching your embassy portal?)

But what I'm pretty sure of is you can fill out the DS160 (and not submit it/just save it) without the NVC case number. It only asks for your WAC# which you already have from your NOA2.

Everything after approval for the "NOA2" is predicated on the case number. Once you have the case number you can start moving your case forward because now you are in charge of when items are completed for the interview. Every Embassy is different and asking questions is much more beneficial if you go to the sub-forum for your country located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/149-india/ You'll find experts there that can help you.

Your packet 3 letter, Embassy instructions, is located here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xukUjdqnKM7yqrkqfPfl8tCao_BY2XsC/view

Additional information is here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=India&cty=Mumbai

Now you should have enough information to be not confused. Read, Read and Read some more. You have to start doing the research work and rely more on the information in the links and less on the folks here in this thread who are processing visa's from Germany, Spain, Japan and Togo to name a few. The ppl here have great intentions but may not know the answer to all your questions no fault of theirs.
