Do you have your Alien Number commonly referred to as your A#. You'll need the number plus the NOA2 during this process and AOS. You might rethink your strategy as it looks to us that it is somewhat flawed. Just saying.

No, we don't have an alien number yet. We barely got the letter from NVC stating that they've forwarded the petition on to the embassy in Ukraine. All we have is the new case number (not to be confused with the receipt number).

So we haven't even started the process of filling out the DS-160 or scheduled an interview yet. Heck, I don't even think the letter has reached the Ukrainian embassy yet.

The alien # is given after you receive your Visa, correct? We're not far along enough yet to even start thinking about the AOS yet. Our immediate goal now is to get through the interview and get approval for a visa.

I wouldn't call it my strategy, more of a gap in the USCIS system that caused it. If I need to get a hard copy re-sent from USCIS for the AOS then that's what I shall do. But as far as waiting to get it before we proceed with the DS-160 and interview, I don't see that as necessary.

Now we just need to navigate our way through the steps up to the interview.

Ah, ok, I'll have to call USCIS to get it then.

I'm surprised they wouldn't have listed that along with the case and receipt numbers in the NVC letter I received.

Thanks!

"The alien # is given after you receive your Visa, correct?" The A# is given with your NOA2 (which you will need for your AOS after marriage) and will also be embossed on your green card for future reference (Needed for Naturalization if you opt for). I highlight the need of the A# for AOS so that between now and then you secure a new copy from USCIS. Better now then having to wait for who knows how long for USCIS to reply.

Only thing I can imagine that you need your NOA2 hardcopy for is for your new Alien number.

NVC will send you an email if you sign up the beneficiary's email address with them (which you should). It will state your dates and your new case file #.

As I posted earlier in direct response to you, I stated your Alien number is on your NOA2 (hard copy).

You will need A number for your I134 Affidavit of Support as it asks for it. And now that you have it, you need to provide it.

Do they assign an alien # on NOA2 for the beneficiary? My NOA1 has my alien # since I immigrated to US when I was 10, but I got that number when I got my white card not when I got my visa to travel to US. Now it’s on my naturalization certificate and passport. I think you get that number when you get a green card or once you obtain status in the US. To my understanding when the beneficiary enters US and applies for AOS they get a white card which indicates they are a legal alien in US waiting for status adjustment. However I would still request the hard copy of NOA2 for records, but I’m not sure it will have your fiancés alien # on it, they get that after entering and applying for status.

Me too @x_driven_x:D

Im going to touch base with our congresswoman's office again tomorrow. She said it would likely take a week or two for an update - and tomorrow marks one week.  Fingers crossed!! 🤞 Just REALLY don't want to get an RFE at this stage... after waiting so long.

Tomorrow is day 223...praying for good movement for those of us still waiting!! ☺

The A# is on the NOA2 I-797. Once assigned that number will travel with you always. So having gotten yours when you were 10 technically it should travel from document to document, process to process. That's my understanding.
