"It can be your country" - this part of your post got stuck in my head. Yes, I think this is one of the reasons why our case is so slow. And whatever people say about all the countries of origin being equal, I doubt that. I really do.

Hello everyone,

Just want to share the update with you guys.

We got approved on the 15th of May, file was received on the 24th of November.

The website still shows "file was received", but we received the paper notice around the 25th of May.

Although it's an exciting news but we decided to cancel the process as he is coming to Korea and we will live in Korea for a few years...

I hope all of you will get approved soon, don't give up on hope.

All the best

Showing patience while in normal processing is a virtue that many here do not subscribe to.

That's your perception, speaking for myself, I am more frustrated than everything else, frustrated that I paid for a service almost 7 months ago and received nothing in return, Frustrated over the unknown and uncertainty of my case, And frustrated seeing approval after approval for cases that were submitted long after mine, it all feels like a big a slap in the face, and I know I'm not alone in feeling that way!

I understand your frustration. I for one waited 14 months for my wife's 10 yr GC from Vermont to be processed while the records that went to California to be processed were adjudicated within 6 months. You couldn't be more frustrated then seeing that. But what did I do, I went along with the time as I knew there was nothing I could do because everyone from Vermont were experiencing the same issue. This is a process that MILLIONS are trying to complete. NO ONE said it was going to be fast or you were going to be treated any differently. I want it now because I deserve it mentality is not going to change anything. With all that is going on with immigration in the US I am sure there is a rush of people trying to get this done before something changes and they can no longer get a visa. Also, there are quotas for each country to the number of visa's that can be issued and the country from which the person is immigrating from his also monitored and will have an impact.

All countries are not equal. Some countries are different because of their outward view of the US and hostilities from the past are also part of the equation. Each country is given each year a quota of the number that can be let into the US prompted by visa classification. If your country has met their monthly quota then you can be delayed. Their are so many factors that come into play when adjudicating a visa.

Yes of course. we are going to go try to go to Guyana because it seems like they are making it easier to go there. There is already a direct flight every other day I believe leaving from Havana.  i will try to keep you posted and how it goes.

You have to show residency in any country you are trying to process through unless you have been instructed that your country is processed in another country. There are a few country's like that.

we don't need to show residency because of the special circumstances with cuba. they are processing the visas through Guyana

Good to know. Of course my previous posting answered this may indeed be country specific as Cuba is along with a few other country's around you.
