Proof of Income

Question

 Last year taxes of mine are below the allowed for sponsorship. ( rough year) ( 2 years prior are with my ex-husband- I was a full-time student and stay at home wife)  This year I exceed it. However I have just started the job and before was working a Temp position. Should I include a letter with my income or What would you suggest. Started my job May, 7?

Current income is what matters. For a typical employee of a company, the best way to show evidence of current income is with an employment letter and pay stubs. The tax return may still be required, but is not particularly indicative of your current income for traditional wage employees.

 

That said, the short timeframe for your current employment may be a concern for the CO. The CO makes the decision on the public charge concern based on the totality of the circumstances.

what about self employed people and free lancer ? how can they check their current income since they dont have pay stub and in the form i-134 they just ask for w2 ?

For self-employed individuals (which includes freelancers), your income would be determined via your tax return. Any money earned in the current year is revenue, not income, until claimed on your taxes.
