Document Showing Residency Status???

Hi there! Not sure if I'm posting this is the right place, but I wanted to check-in and see if anyone has dealt with this before or recently...

Hubby is a December 2016 filer, and we're going into escrow on a home (yipppeee!) but our lender wants proof that the i-551 stamp is real - ugh. Apparently, there's a line employers can call to verify residency, so we called and spoke to a super nice lady who told us to make another appointment at our local USCIS office to get a document that shows his residency status. Appointments are two weeks out, which is cutting it close for escrow. Has anyone gotten such document before from their local office?

I noticed in other threads people got attorney's involved... that's my second choice, though. Thanks in advance for your help!

Is there a reason for them to reasonably believe it is not real? Unless so, they are not permitted to request other documentation.

Eek, sorry...this question is for a lender/escrow agent, not an employer. Whoops~  I'm not aware of any specific for a lender/escrow, sorry.

The reason they are questioning it is because the expiration date on the stamp was HANDWRITTEN in by the immigration officer... So they're saying "anyone could have written that"...

So what if anyone could write that? Any document can be faked, including the “hard to produce” gov documents.

Documents have to be accepted in good faith as true and be used in court of law against you if found to be false.

Go back to the discrimination part that was posted, its not just for employers.

This seems like a legitmate descrimination case where the person is having doubt about your character for discriminatory reasons.

“Prove to me the document that proves your legal status is real”

“ok here is a USCIS letter we got”

”ok now prove to me this letter is real”

”we cant but we got lucky now we got the 10 year green card”

why would he stop at the 10 year green card? What computer access to  immigration files does he have to know a plastic green card is not fake?

Yup this should be an internal affair thing, they should accept it and do their own background check on it while keep costumer service professional. Id pursue full action

Also let this be the “shut your mouth” moment to anyone who keeps telling us, the I751 is a “low periority” benefit.

Imagine losing your dream house that you worked so hard for as any American because someone decided to sit YEARS on our “low periority” cases.

They call us Permanent residents, yet people with temporary visas have proof of longer and much more professional proofs.

If I751 is low periority to you, your life is low periority to you.
