Taxes and Interview K1

Hi,

So I was recently approved, and I'm trying to make sure I have everything ready. My fiance lives in China, so I expect there to be about a three-month delay before the interview (from the average I've seen), but I'm starting to get anxious because the IRS still says they are processing my tax return from last year.

I already called them more than two weeks ago, and they said that it was under review, and it would be that way until whenever they finished it. I'm already well outside the 21-day window the IRS says is the norm for taxes filed electronically.

I've been told that there's no hangup on the return, just that it's not been processed yet.

So, my question is is what happens if we get close the interview and they still haven't processed my return? I worked abroad last year for a good portion, and much of the money I got I didn't pay US taxes on, so I'm wondering if that's part of the hold up? I reported them on the return and have made arrangements to pay the taxes owed, and that's all been set up. The only problem is that nothing has been processed.

Do I just wait this out? Is this normal? Should I be worried about not getting the return processed in time?

Thanks, y'all.

Why do you have to wait on the IRS? You just need a copy of your signed return. If there's a problem, they will let you know. Also, if you used a CPA, their signed copy is usually pretty good to use. Don't worry about it.

LOL Okay.

This is my first year filing taxes (I didn't make enough before then), and I don't know how any of it works.

Thanks for letting me know. For some reason I thought it needed to have been already-verified.
