idk why you are so stressed.

Your husband could most likely add you due to a change in life circumstances.

You may qualify for Emergency Medicaid.

In few months, you will receive your EAD and AP, you can always go back to the UK to take advantage of the NHS.

Try calling your local WIC center for guidance. They should be able to help, because even if you don't have a greencard, etc. They still provide you with services.

She has been out of the U.K. too long to qualify for the NHS. NHS eligibility is based on residency, not nationality, how much tax one has paid or even continues to pay, NI contributions or anything else. Anyone who is no longer a U.K. resident has lost NHS eligibility.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I assumed when mcdull said take advantage of he meant take advantage of not being eligible for.

You don't have ssn? Why not? If your i94 is still valid, go get your number... or you'll be forced to wait months until you get your EAD

She’s out of status so her i94 won’t be any good.

Bringing up SSN is a good point though. Can you even get insurance if you don’t have an SSN?

Ok thank you. I will ask him to check. Called planned parenthood and they weren’t helpful at all. So looking into insurance is a better option probably.  I just don’t know where to look

I’ve seen ads on VJ about health insurance for foreigners who just came to the US. I don’t know how much truth there is to any of them because they’re those pop up ads but might be worth clicking on them and see what it tells you. They even mention something like looking for short term insurance for your fiancé for when they get to the US before adding them to your policy? Lol something like that. If there’s any truth to them they might be worth looking at because maybe since it’s short term for foreigners who just landed they may not require SSN. But I would really call your husband’s insurance before anything else cause I’m almost 100% sure you qualify for out of enrollment time add. Good luck.

YES!! Thank you. I totally forgot about that! So I can just send it all away without the medical and then take the paperwork to my appointment?

Oh yeah, totally forgot about that. You can totally bring your medical to the interview instead. File for AOS ASAP. Then when you get your NOA you can try to get a SSN. Some offices do that. If not your EAD and AP will come way before your AOS interview so you’d be good for a SSN then. Make sure you send the forms and documents for EAD and AP. They’re each a separate application.

Hello, right now I have been in the middle of filing for AOS from esta based on my marriage to a us citizen. We recently found out I am pregnant. I went for my medical appointment last week - everything was fine but I have to go to an ob to get an MMR vaccine before I can get my medical paperwork back to send off my application.

Problem is I have no insurance, my husband missed the cut off date to add me to his. I have also been out of status since August.

I just wondered if anyone here has been in the same or a similar situation and could tell me if there is a way for me to get insurance or am I best to pay out of pocket?

I have called round a few places and got some prices- very pricey compared to our free healthcare back home in the uk lol.

any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Ps. If you don’t have advice please don’t comment, stressed enough so I don’t need the negative comments or opinions from people who just come on here to critisize others.

Thanks :)

Pregnancy can be a life changing event and your husband may be able to add you on his insurance! Ask him to call the insurance, or his HR department.

Health Insurance was one of the things I nagged my then husband about. I knew I had to have it otherwise I'd get very sick. I was out of insurance for two months and well... I did get very sick.

How do you miss the cut off date? When is the next enrollment? With my last company it usually was in November. If your husband's enrollment time is similar he could put you on his insurance before you give birth. Don't miss the cut off time again... My husband was out of status and I was able to put him on my insurance with his ITIN. When he got his SSN I was able to change it. It's also worth asking if they also take the passport number. I would definitely contact your husband's insurance again (or he in that case since he is the policy holder).

Another thing you could do maybe is get yourself a job which offers health insurance. You should have your EAD by the time you get ready to give birth. If not maybe it's a good idea to wait for AP and go back to the UK since health insurance is free there.

Whatever you do I hope it all works out for you and your baby.

This should be the case, your husband more then likely can add you anytime (people get married all the time and don't have to wait for the enrollment dates). I was able to add my wife to mine after we got married, it was just a simple form..but it did ask for  a SSN, but again as long as your married this shouldn't be an issue, have your husband check with the HR department at work and figure out how to add you.
