IIRC, the OP came on an ESTA. They don't qualify for an SSN until they get an EAD or green card.

Also talk to your husband, he's US citizen and he should be helping with stuff like looking for insurance.. he should know those things.

He knows how to help me look for the insurance, but we were just confused with the immigration side of things. That’s why I asked on here. Because I’m out of status I didn’t think  was as easy as just applying for insurance.

I got married July of last year. I have just been calling round asking prices so far, none of them have mentioned payment plans they have just told me the price for each visit. I have been out of status since August, so I don’t know if that would work for me?

Ask about self paying options until you have insurance. Our last none insurance visit was 30% of the original price. Most have a totally different price scale for patients with no insurance.
Your status shouldn't matter when going to the Dr's. At least, I've never been asked about mine and I was out of status with our first child. They just want to know who's going to be paying the bill.

  When did you get married?

If you've found an OBGYN office you plan on sticking with call and ask about their billing options for having no insurance. They usually have a reduced rate for self paying patients. They can also give you options for if you don't have insurance further down the line. If you're not 12 or more weeks along yet you have a bit of time to sort some of your ducks out. The first couple of appointments can be pricey but some offices have payment plans available. Shop around.

Whilst pregnancy itself isn't a life changing event, change of status is. We were able to get insurance through the healthcare marketplace with AOS pending but we had to call to get that sorted and it's only for a 90 day timeframe so if you're not that far in to the process it won't be a decent option since they cancel the policy if you don't provide the documents i.e. proof of status, SSN.

Also, I’m only about 7weeks but I have been trying to get a doctor asap so That I can move forward and send my aos application. The medical clinic still has my paperwork as I have to check with an OB before getting mmr vaccine

Ok that’s good to know. Thank you! I will keep asking around, and will look for insurance too.

Problem is I have no insurance, my husband missed the cut off date to add me to his. I have also been out of status since August.

Health Insurance was one of the things I nagged my then husband about. I knew I had to have it otherwise I'd get very sick. I was out of insurance for two months and well... I did get very sick.

How do you miss the cut off date? When is the next enrollment? With my last company it usually was in November. If your husband's enrollment time is similar he could put you on his insurance before you give birth. Don't miss the cut off time again... My husband was out of status and I was able to put him on my insurance with his ITIN. When he got his SSN I was able to change it. It's also worth asking if they also take the passport number. I would definitely contact your husband's insurance again (or he in that case since he is the policy holder).

Another thing you could do maybe is get yourself a job which offers health insurance. You should have your EAD by the time you get ready to give birth. If not maybe it's a good idea to wait for AP and go back to the UK since health insurance is free there.

Whatever you do I hope it all works out for you and your baby.

Can't you get the same clinic to do a urinalysis to confirm it? You don't need an OB for that.

It was confirmed by blood tests and urine sample at an urgent care clinic. But I need the ob to ether give me the mmr vaccine or give me a script for it so the immigration medical clinic can do it before they’ll give me the paperwork back

He has insurance through his work, and apparently they said he had to add me 30 days after the marriage. Then in November they said he missed they date and had to wait til next year. They all said they couldn’t add me without a ssn but it’s good to know that they now can with the itin. I hoping to get a job as soon as I get the ead.. but I can’t get the ead without sending the paperwork. Because I dont have an ob yet, I can’t get the only vaccine I need to complete my medical forms. That’s why I’m lookign to get s doctor/ insurance/ self pay doctor ASAP!

Also, say I did go back to uk to have the baby.. how would this work with coming back to USA? Would I have to apply for the baby to come back?

You're not out of status. Once AOS is filed you are in a period of authorized stay, pending the adjudication.

You are not eligible for NHS treatment anymore so how would you pay for that? The baby would be a USC so you would need to file a CRBA at the London embassy and then get a US passport for the child to come back. You would need AP or a green card to come back.

I haven’t filed the paperwork yet.. I have to get an ob to do a vaccine before the immigration doctor will give me my medical paperwork to send

I’m not planning on going back. Was asking out of curiosity.
