It doesn't matter what type of person Martin was. His death was not warranted. There was never any proof that he was committing a crime, thought about committing a crime that night, or even remotely was in the act of committing a crime. Zimmerman by all accounts, now and then, does not seem to be all sweetness either. Should we expect that he ends up dead one day?

None of the above was proven. All of this is merely a story and your assumption that you believe the story. The fact that the DA bungled the case, and neither side could prove the above in either favor, brought the result of the verdict.

Assaulting someone with intent to kill is a crime

There was no real proof an assault took place.

It’s impossible to prove anything when there are no witnesses, only two people involved, and one is dead.

Had TM been a regular guy, without a rap sheet longer than I am tall, and with no run-ins with the cops, I am sure the events would have unfolded differently.  Alas, we will never know, because what happened, happened.

As for Zimmerman... no one gets out of this world alive.  Some tend to get ded quicker than others.  If I read on the news that he died one day soon, because of some of his antics (I seem to recall he had a couple of run-ins with the law shortly after acquittal), I would not be very surprised.  Just as I do not wish TMs death on him, I also do not wish it on GZ.  But people’s actions often cause their demise long before nature intended.

By the same token, had Zimmerman been a regular guy, more people might have been inclined to believe his version of the story.

I think the "smirching" was Trayvon's own doing.  The media tried to paint a picture of a sweet young kid who was killed wantonly.  Several here at the time seemed to fall for it.

Talking to the police who knew him and his antics, he was quite the opposite of whom he was portrayed to be.  His death may have been unwarranted,  but people who lead a life of crime tend to end up in a bad way, in jail, or both.

The media never does that, do they?  I seem to remember them painting Zimmerman as a white person when he was actually Peruvian with African ancestry.  Didn't they also try to downplay the actions of the gentle giant?

I think this is where the SJW's got their knickers in a twist as usually in their hierachy Hispanic beats Black, but they assumed he was White which of course is right at the bottom, well unless he was homosexual etc etc.

By the time the truth was out it was too late so they just had to double down.

Nothing was proved with enough certainty. The only thing that was proved was that no one knows what happened that night. There was no overwhelming evidence that supported that Martin attacked Zimmerman. No one knows who took the first blow and if it was all simply a struggle.

Well, technically there was enough evidence to convince a jury of his peers that he wasn't guilty of outright homicide, otherwise he wouldn't have been acquitted.

So reasonable doubt?

Reasonable doubt yes. But nothing in the evidence proved NB's assertion of the actual facts of that night. His argument is that Martin attacks Zimmerman in an unprovoked angry thug rage or something. But there is nothing that proves that. There's nothing that doesn't disprove that a bunch of other very plausible scenarios happened as well.

The jurors later interviewed that many of them did believe that Zimmerman murdered Martin. One felt that under the terms of the law the DA could not prove murder, even though they in the box, felt that he most certainly did murder. While one juror believed that NB's assumption was the likely scenario, no other juror seemed to agree. The simple fact was no one knows, and if there's uncertainty to that, the jurors have no other choice.

The only person that knows what happened is Zimmerman, and he is not especially proven himself to be an honest or upstanding individual.

I think if they had went for the manslaughter charge/conviction route instead of the Murder route they would have got a conviction. But they tried to showboat and charging him with the worst charge they could throw at him.
