Not current, but it was a hot social topic on here when it happened, so I figured the good people of CEHST deserved an update that I recently had the fortune to luck into.

Talked to a retired cop who knew Trayvon from his duty days.  Said he had a rap sheet that was about three pages long, mostly minor stuff, but hard to make anything stick to the kid.  Had a fellow police officer who had on two occasions pulled his service weapon on Trayvon for some misdeed.  Said he was a troublemaker, should have been locked up several times, but the kid was slick, and a good liar.  While not at all happy about Zimmerman killing him (another person of questionable moral character, though less often in the eyes of the law), he said he was surprised TM lived as long as he did, considering the criminal element he ran with, and all the bad stuff he got into.

Not quite the victim that the media portrayed.  I think it’s always good to know the other side of the story/coin/situation, it helps in making better judgments.

Most of that was known , but race baiters make their living on social unrest. It was widely known he got busted at school with burglar tools and evidence of a home break in, but was kept from the cops, becuse of a new program, to not involve the cops.

I have no doubt in my mind he was casing a home to break in the night.

Not sure anybody on here with a clue thought otherwise.

Yeah my coworker from my last job was telling me about that area because he used to live there as well. He always said that the area he got shot in was a good area but it was surrounded by rough areas. So he might have been scoping stuff out so to speak.

It doesn't matter if he was a good kid or a bad kid. There are many kids that are troublemakers. He's unable to defend himself against comments said in passing to others, now that he's dead. I'm sure like many other kids growing up in the situation that he did and the culture of crime that surrounds them early on, sure he probably wasn't a kid that had the best intentions. But we do not know truly that night. What we do know is that a person killed him, who imho had no business doing what they did, or even pulling the trigger, or even remotely being around guns (but that's another issue). I never found a justification for Zimmerman killing him that night, no matter what sort of kid he was, nor did I ever see justification for Zimmerman's actions that put both of them into that situation that night.

Martin's character or even potential character as a person does not justify the actions taken by a person that is still alive and has, a character that is no saint either.

Not sure the point of the OP was to besmirch the memory of Trayvon Martin, but rather to point out the practices of the biased media and their political agenda to try and paint a picture that wasn't true.

Like using a picture that was obviously from years ago when he was a young teenager and not like he was when he died.

I think the "smirching" was Trayvon's own doing.  The media tried to paint a picture of a sweet young kid who was killed wantonly.  Several here at the time seemed to fall for it.

Talking to the police who knew him and his antics, he was quite the opposite of whom he was portrayed to be.  His death may have been unwarranted,  but people who lead a life of crime tend to end up in a bad way, in jail, or both.

Sometimes when you attack someone and announce "you going to die Cracker" and start pounding their head into the sidewalk, bad things happen

I think if you were on top of me telling me you are going to kill me and pounding my face into the cement, your death would be warranted

It doesn't matter what type of person Martin was. His death was not warranted. There was never any proof that he was committing a crime, thought about committing a crime that night, or even remotely was in the act of committing a crime. Zimmerman by all accounts, now and then, does not seem to be all sweetness either. Should we expect that he ends up dead one day?

None of the above was proven. All of this is merely a story and your assumption that you believe the story. The fact that the DA bungled the case, and neither side could prove the above in either favor, brought the result of the verdict.
