Any luck with asking for expediated processing of I751

Hi

I just realized that I have to file - my conditional green card anniversary is May 15th - asap. The issue is that husband, baby and I are part of a wedding party in Mexico on 26 May. I need my receipt from UsCIS so I can get back into the states. Anyone asked for expediated processing and received it under these conditions?

Thanks ever so much

You are cutting it close, file asap, overnight the application.

I would then schedule a Info-Pass, and see if a reentry permit can be issued.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

It seems, from what I have seen lately, that most people are not receiving their NOA for the I-751 for almost a month after they send in their applications.

If you have not sent in your application yet, I doubt very much that you will have your NOA before May 26th. The NOA is required to re-enter the U.S. after travel abroad, because it extends the Conditional Green Card for one year, which allows work and travel.

You can schedule an InfoPass appointment to see if there's anything they can do to help, but I would get your I-751 in as soon as possible.

I didn't wait for my NOA to get the passport stamped. I made an appointment ASAP the day the check was cashed, explained to the officer why I needed the stamp (employer getting nervous about expiration dates), and left the office with a one-year I-551 stamp in my passport. Maybe that would work for you?

Fantastic idea. I think I am going to add that to my letter asking for expediated filing. Thank you

Did you ask for expediated processing of the i751 in your cover letter or just did a standard cover letter and then did the info pass separately? Thanks

I just did a standard cover letter. To my mind, the adjudicating officers probably have enough of a workload already, and I want to make their work easier, not more difficult.

Ok, I'm going to try that. I think you are right about making it more complicated for the case worker. I'm freelancing after having lost my job in Feb but am also looking for full-time work so could say I want to be prepared. Did you have to show any evidence of employer getting nervous or they took your word for it?

Thanks

I had a request from HR with me, but they never wanted to see it.

As others said, file your application make an InfoPass appointment for ASAP and then bring the receipt of your filing (from the Post Office), copies of your application, your plane tickets , passport, current green card, and any other supporting documents you feel necessary with you.

This is what my husband did when he needed to leave for work WELL before we received the NOA. He's travelled on the stamp ever since.

Don't panic, you'll make your trip.
