Everyone,

My fiancee has returned to her home country of Nicaragua, but we are unable to schedule a K1 interview at the embassy. The embassy is closed due to the civil unrest in the country. I heard that all appointments were cancelled for people who had scheduled them previously. What do I do now? I have called the visa center to try and schedule an interview. They only tell me that no appointments are available.

My fiancee has completed the DS-160. I paid the $265 fee online. We received packets 3 and 4 from the embassy. My fiancee has completed her medical exams and vaccinations, and has the sealed results packet. She is living in fear due to the bad situation in Nicaragua, and the situation seems to be getting worse. Half of the "lifespan" of our approved petition has been used up. The police reports and other documents also have limited validity dates (3 months, I believe). And I am unable to obtain an interview appointment or get any answers. What do I do now? How do I resolve the situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Steve

Please, does anyone know how to get an interview moved to a different country? I tried to schedule an interview again this week. As usual, the embassy isn't taking appointments for interviews. This has been going on for weeks. The process is completely broken. We have successfully completed all of the required steps for the visa, but we can't get an appointment for an interview. I call the visa center every few days, but they are of no help.

The situation is getting worse. People blew up the radio station near where my fiancee is staying. Police were firing bullets and tear gas canisters. My fiancee is afraid for her life, and has fled the apartment where she was staying.

Please, does anyone know how to obtain an interview, or how to get the government to move the interview to another country where they actually give people interviews? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Steve

My fiancee was in in Costa Rica for the past 9 years, but returned to Nicaragua 2 or 3 weeks ago for the interview, and medical exams, and to obtain the required documents from Nicaragua. I talked to the national visa center, and the embassies in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Everyone told me that she had to have the interview in Nicaragua, because that is the country of her citizenship. She did not have legal residency in Costa Rica.

I am under the impression that we don't get to choose another country at our convenience. It is only possible to interview in another country if the beneficiary has legal residency there. Or if serious problems in the country force the interview to take place in a neighboring country. I was told that the consulate must approve the transfer.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this feat? Who do I need to contact? Who gets to decide which country become the alternate country? What are the repercussions? Will the medical exams and documents from Nicaragua be valid in another country? Ow will we need to obtain new exams and documents for a different country?

Regards,

Steve
