Hello ,

I'm a green card holder after my 5 years , I applied for citizenship N400 application , in my interview I passed the English test and the history test . And everything was fine .

But they give me this paper says :

a decision cannot yet be made about your application.

I'm not sure what's that mean exactly !!! So stressed now if my application will get denied,  I been waiting for  this moment 6years now :(

Is there any one here got the same letter in the interview?

How long will take to contact me ?

I got the same letter at my interview.  I passed all of the sections and was confident about approval.  I know it is heartbreaking but be patient.  My reason was rather unique so I can't exactly comment on WHY you got your letter.  But the officer that interviewed me - I taught his son at the time.  It was a conflict of interest if he were to be the person that approved my petition.  So he explained to me that it was going to go to another officer for review.

Sadly, it took a total of 2 years, numerous info pass appointments, many more service requests and a letter to a senator to finally get my oath ceremony.  It was explained to me that offices that are busy often have junior officers review petitions and make recommendations for senior officers but they themselves do not have the authority to approve.  So it goes to another senior officer for review.  If there is really nothing in your background to make you worry about a denial, then I am sure it is just that.

My advice is to stay on top of it.  You won't really be able to get much traction until 90 days have passed (hopefully it won't take that long) but after 90 days then start with a service request, speak to a tier 2, info pass appointments, etc.

Good luck

Yes, if you look at my timeline my interview was September 2013 and my oath ceremony was October 2015.  I applied based on 3 years green card status based on marriage to a US citizen, but that doesn't matter as the reason I was not approved at my interview was because I taught the CO's child at the time.

Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.
