Hello everyone

I was wondering if my fiancee is able to schedule the interview for her self once the time comes to schedule the interview or if someone else does the scheduling. Is there a way to expedite the visa once the interview is complete? My family and I are wanting my fiancee to be able to make it to my sisters wedding which is on September 22nd for the family pictures and stuff. My guess is that our NOA2 will be complete by August. Thanks in advance.

If you get noa2 in August, it's unlikely (not impossible but unlikely) she would have her interview before September. While all cases/consulates do things differently, it would still have to get to the NVC, get assigned a case number, and get to the consulate,  each of these often takes 2-3 weeks.

I'm not familiar with how Vietnam schedules interviews,  or how long visas take so hopefully some with local experience can help - I've seen reports of some being granted/picked up the next day and some have to wait a couple weeks and are delivered by courier.

Don't buy any tickets until her visa is in her hand, as a precaution, unless she can change dates of travel easily or you can afford to lose that money.

I hope it works out for you but that's cutting it pretty close.

Visas generally take about 7-10 days for delivery. My fiance was living in a tiny village outside Hanoi and hers was delivered about 8 or 9 days after the interview. Cannot expedite delivery because it is handled by EMS or other delivery service. You pay them at the consulate after you are granted visa. They will deliver as fast as they can - about 7-10 days.

The VN fiance schedules the interview. Go online and pick a date. We were able to get a faster interview date (than original date) because someone canceled and my fiance picked it. Keep checking.

Sept. 22 arrival in USA is possible, but not likely. If you get interview date before Sept. 7, it will probably  be OK. But anything can - and does - happen in Vietnam. It's hard to get a visa there. Good luck!
