Hi everyone, we finally received our rescheduled interview date today for August 23rd :)  This has been a very long wait. Does anyone know if they would accept expired documents such as medical exams and criminal records etc? Thank you!

NVC updated the validity of PCC to 2 years. Note sure if yours is older than 2 years. I am sure you will have to redo the medicals.

I am exactly in the same situation .. And candidly don't know for sure the right answers. In most likely case, you probably will get the GC earlier than Canadian citizenship because of the current backlog.

Yes. I agree. Most likely we should get GC before Canadian citizenship considering backlogs. What you feel about getting the citizenship after receiving the GC? Will USCIS consider this as we don't have residency "intent" as we acquire citizenship of another country after receiving GC?

Strange. It’s current.

maybe you should call NVC

That's a good suggestion .. I never tried calling NVC, but heard getting thru is not easy as agents are always busy. Any advise on best time of the day to call?

I have had success getting to them early in the morning. Be prepared to be on hold for at least one hour.

Also as per Montreal consulate’s video update last month, they are just scheduling interviews for cancelled EB appointments from March 2020.

PradSim, I think your appointment might be coming up as soon as next month if the consulate starts to schedule for everyone else at NVC

@PradSim It sounds like you’re close! Do you recall when your PD became current? I’m guessing it probably got current after Feb/March 2020? If so, that would explain not getting it in this go around. Looking forward to your updates here. To StephenC111’s point, I have reached them in less than 10 mins by calling around 10pm EST (co-incidentally all of my 3 calls were on Wednesday’s) but might be the same any day of the week.

Yes .. that's probably the main reason. Mine got current around July/August last year.

Congratulations!!! That's indeed very exciting!

May I ask if you are Canadian? (wanted to check one online theory that Consulates prioritize citizens for interviews).

Thank you! No, I am not Canadian but my husband is (main applicant), but I would think they schedule interviews based on the order in the queue

Congratulations Espineapple! This is a positive update ..

I know my friends who had to do medicals twice .. And you would also need police clearance certificates from RCMP and your country of birth.  Good Luck with the interview!!

Thanks for letting me know!
