Ashley does it matter what the priority date is?

From what I gathered from other forum, it takes 4 to 6 months to get interview done from when you start CP with NVC.

But it doesn't appear to be true, this looks like its taking close to a year from NVC first stage to when you get an interview.

I have had opportunity to switch jobs and was waiting to complete the process as I assume after CC, the next day is interview.

But looks like its 6 months from when your case is closed.

Good luck guys, please update this thread if anyone get an interview date.

Thank you

I'm actually not sure but was asking to see if I could help determine what is affecting this.  The lawyer I'm working with has other Canadian clients with EB visa's who have gotten interviews in just 30 days - one was just in May.  There seems to be some possible anomalies.

Apologies for trying to help.

Priority dates matter in terms of interview placement.  For example if person 1 and person 2 have the same CC date but person 2 has an earlier priority date, Montreal will book the interview for person 2 first.

I'm only asking to get a grasp on what the overall process is and try to understand what affects NVC processing.  I've spent a lot of time in the forums and have heard of it taking 6+ weeks to get a case number from NVC, whereas in my own case I got mine in around 2 weeks.  Same with CC - others have taken weeks, whereas my own was just 5 days.

While I'm sure that a lot of what NVC does is somewhat random, there is some rhyme or reason as to timing and dates that things are processed, and Priority Dates certainly factor into that.

There isn't a lot of information or timelines on this site with respect to EB visa's except for those that appear to take much longer than what is typical based on my lawyers experience with other clients.

Hi Ashley,

Are you sure EB montreal case got their interview in just 30 days? Is it EB2 or 3?  Because I am waiting for 80 days to get interview date and got stressed without knowing these timeline. we have a plan to visit India and waiting makes us crazy. Anyways when I see the timeline, I think I may get my date in end of January or early February. I decided to book flight tickets now to go this month itself and come back in December.

Regarding the priority dates, NVC considers only whether it is current  or not. they dont see its early one or late as per my knowledge. if NikLR opinion is true, My priority date will get interview very quickly. its EB3 July 2007 India. But I dont think so. priority is given for spouse visa, not employment based visa in Montreal embassy.

I agree with Vnca too on this, I don’t think priority date makes any difference here,

there seems to be a problem with Montreal consulate because I don’t understand why it’s taking over 5 months to get an interview date!!!

My case closed Oct and I was hoping to have interview next month (Nov) or worst case December but have lost hope and not thinking of interview until May 2019 based on the timeline.

i am EB2 with priority date sometime in 2017! So to me interview is more in case closed than priority date.

Hello,

The timelines you have posted are significantly longer than what is available on the spreadsheet below, filtered for Canada:

https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/667233-case-complete-to-interview-may-2018/

The norm, based on the spreadsheet, appears to be interview is scheduled 2 months after CC for an interview the following month, meaning 3 months from CC to interview. I wonder why the users you have indicated had to wait 6 months. Could it be that family based interviews are granted before EB ones?

Hi,

Yes.  Family based interviews  are granted in 2 months where as EB  interviews take longer only in montreal consulate. Many family based cases with september CC date already got interview for December.  Until March and April,  Montreal EB cases were getting interview dates in 90 to 120 days. But Since May it is significantly delayed. So, everyone is getting frustrated and not even updating their information once they get interview date. I used personal messenger to get the interview date from two members who got interview.

What about your case? please update. it will be useful for others.
