Montreal embassy EB-2 interview wait time

I just got the email. They scheduled me on sept 27, but they scheduled me in islamabad, pakistan instead on montreal canada which i requested since i am in canada. :S

Was in the same situation. My experience after contact NVC for help was that to email asknvc@state.gov with the below details:

 

Subject line: Case # - Full name - Request title

 

Body of email:

You can mention that you are requesting to move your petition to the specific location (you submit proof establishing your eligibility to be precessed for an immigrant visa in Canada (i.e.:  PR/CA Citizen passport)

 

Info to include:

• full name
• DOB
• Case #
• Petitioner name
• Provide a current address for the Principal application in Canada

 

If I recall it took them 1-2 weeks to process the request (this was back in May 2018). Please make sure you contact NVC in case they've updated their process and do not solely depend on my experience above.

Also, looks like Islamabad processed it quicker than Montreal would do, you may want to consider processing it there. Wish I had done mine at my country of birth when they automatically assigned it there (waiting time was less than 2 months) vs. Montreal 5+ months. Unfortunately, for personal reasons my spouse couldn't make it so we got stuck with Montreal.

I can do interview in Islamabad, but problem with that is if they keep my passport, i wont be able to come back to my job in canada until they return me the passport.

Hi @Shenn110 Can you tell us whether your Priority Date has become current on the September visa bulletin. In other words simply your Priority Date.

Dear Sir or Madam,

 

I am writing about this urgent matter for xxxxxx, the Attorney of Record in this case.  On behalf of our client, xxxxx and a lawful permanent resident of Canada, we respectfully request to change interview location and reschedule his interview.  On August 19, the National Visa Center informed xxx that he had been scheduled for his immigrant visa interview in Islamabad, Pakistan.  In numerous filings to USCIS and to the Department of State, we stated that  xxxx was a permanent resident of Canada.  A copy of xxxx Canadian Permanent Resident Card is attached to this email.  xxx currently lives in Ontario, Canada and wishes to be interviewed at the U.S. Embassy in Montreal.  The U.S. Embassy in Montreal is the Embassy closest to xxxx residence that processes immigrant visas in the employment-based second preference category. xxxx does not live in Pakistan and is not able to attend an interview in Pakistan.  We respectfully request that xxxx interview be scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Montreal as soon as possible.

Nice! May 2017 wasn't current on the August bulletin which is why this is great for all still waiting for their case to be current. It means there's a chance you can get an IL during the month the new bulletin that puts you current is released
