All EB-2s are still waiting. It looks like EB3 has a higher priority for Montreal. This theory can be validated if IK27 and Kate8Kate0 get an interview date before VRace. Best of luck to all of you. Please update us as to what happens in your interview and whether you get your visa immediately or experience any administrative processing.

Will do! For everyone who had their interview in May please let us know how long it took to get your passport back. Has there been a situation where the primary applicant got the passport back shortly (been seeing 2-3 working days with past posts) but the dependant’s passport came at a later date?

Can someone shed the light on this please. If chose to collect the passport at post office in Montreal then how long will it take to wait for the passport? How about paying premium to let it sent to some location in Canada?

Hi All,

anyone recently attended interview could you let us know what hotel you stay and experience please, like what to bring and how long to stay in montreal? Do we need to also bring cash to pay any fees?

Hi Bellajio1,

I stayed at Hilton Garden inn hotel. it is about 10 minutes walking from the US consulate of Montreal. I stayed for only one night as I live in another city in Canada. If you have already paid all the fees in advance, so you do not need to bring cash. do not bring your cell phone or computer as you are not allowed to have them with you, Leave them in the hotel. Bring only all your documents as stated in their website. Good Luck.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share with you some tips about my interview (EB-2) that I just did recently. It might be useful for those who are preparing for their interviews.

  1. My appointment was at 8 am. So, I arrived about 7:20 am and was No. 6 in the queue. I finished my interview around 10:30 am. So probably, you need to go earlier if you want to be among the first applicants.

  2. You are not allowed to have your cell phone or laptop. So you need to leave them at the hotel or your car.

  3. You will receive a check list and you will be asked to arrange your documents according to that checklist (Passport, two Photos, original birth certificates, original marriage certificate, Police Certificate, recent tax return documents,…etc). I was very worried as I did not have the tax return documents with me. But fortunately, they did not ask about it. Probably, it depends on the type of your application. However, it might be wise to have it with you just in case.

  4. Then you will be called for one of the windows where they check and receive all your original documents. You will be asked about your address in US (where they will send your green Card). So, you need to tell them the exact address that you have provided earlier in your application.

  5. Then, I waited approximately another one and half hour until they called my number for the interview. My interview went very well and was quick. I have provided a job offer so maybe that is why they did not many questions. I was told then that your application is approved and you will receive your passport with visa within 2 weeks. But I think they usually sent it within a week.

  6. Until I left, they had 18 immigration applications. So this explains the long waiting time they have to schedule interviews.

Good luck everyone with your interviews. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience @HH2018 and congratulations on getting your application approved.

Could you delve more into the job offer:

1) Did they ask for it or did you just include in the list of documents?

2) What was the format of the letter? Was it the full offer letter you receive usually when you first get accepted to work or was it just a one letter template outlining your role, title, responsibilities, location, salary, etc.? (I ask because I currently work for my company (3+ years) and they are only offering me a one-letter employment letter saying that I have a job when I return, with the above details) not the full Job Offer letter you usually receive when you first get accepted.

Sorry for the long post but appreciate your help and hopefully everyone benefits from this.

Do you remember the whole list of documents ?

Also, do they want your personal Tax return or the Company's Tax return that we submitted before?

1- After they collected the required documents, I was asked if I want to share any further information or document and then I have told them about the job offer. They did not ask about it.

2- I have provided the job offer that I received as is.

No unfortunately, I do not remember the full list of documents. However, I have mentioned the list of documents that I remember. It was written as "recent tax return documents". So I guess they mean your personal tax return

Hi HH2018 thanks for your updates. Are you in EB-2 NIW class and that is why they did not ask you for any job offers? if so, please let me know what questions they asked you in the interview. If you can remember all of your conversation it would be great. Thanks. I am also in EB-2 NIW and I do not know what questions I should expect. I do not have a job offer yet, as I plan to move to states and look for a job. Does that work for the interview or should I have a job offer in hand?

Yes, I am EB-2 NIW too. You are not required to have a job offer since you are EB-2 NIW. However, having a job offer will definitely support your case.

I was asked only about my job offer (with whom I am going to work, job title), education degrees (from which university in USA, year, specialization). My spouse was asked only about the year of our marriage and my daughter was asked only how old are you. That's it. Good Luck.
