We were just curious, are the number of Employment Based DQed applications greater or fewer in 2021 than 2020? As 2021 was like the peak of pandemic and not may people working at NVC is there a possibility that the number of people DQed is not that many. Hence a glimmer of hope that the EB queues will move relatively faster?

Just a hypothetical question, members with experience may have a more informed view. Would love to read your thoughts.

This is a great question, and for the longest time we were debating the same thing about CR1/IR1 applications. We noticed on our spreadsheet that number of DQs were lower from November 2020 onwards. And Looking at the numbers of how many visas they MTL processed per month once they crossed October 2020 DQs, it does appear that the number of DQs were fewer. I am not sure if this is because of NVC working slower or simply fewer applicants once the pandemic hit,  because of border closure making new marriages difficult and thus fewer people filing.

Not a direct answer to your question, but some related stats.

Looks great and really helpful. How about a bar for family preference visas?

Sure, I'll add that in next. I assume Montreal only will suffice? Which categories of Family-based visas? Seems a bit more convoluted than I originally imaged...

I was thinking it would be good to show for both London and Montreal. The reason is to see if London cleared off their FB backlog before moving on to EB, and whether Montreal is doing that too.

I would say number to add would be F1 + F2B + F3 + F4 + FX.

I'm happy to add that, but will need to clarify which exactly so I don't add the wrong info...

Looking at Jan 2020, there's F11, F12, F24, F25, F31, F32, F33, F41, F42, F43, FX1. I assume I only add the F11, F31, F41, FX1 in this case? Since the -2, -3, -4, -5 are accompanying parties?

Looking at May 2022, there's F1, F2B, F3, F4, FX only.

Wow, I had no idea there were so many family preference categories.

Whether to count accompanying parties or not - I think keep consistent with how you counted the EBs. If you didn't count accompanying parties for EB, don't count for FB.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.

Included FB categories too but excluded the accompanying individuals

Amazing what perspective this gives. Looks like Montreal is really prioritising FBs right now. I am speculating within a month or two, they will switch to prioritising EB to balance it out.
