None of us (either EB or F visa candidates have received any ILs for March- as far as I know).

It is possible that Montreal is reducing the number of visa appointments due to lack of staffing.

I’m not too sure what happened. 
 

I checked K-visa spreadsheet and found none was scheduled for Mar.

 

Additionally, very few IR1 /CR1 got IL for Mar either. 
 

It seems none IL for FB/ EB either…

This is for my son's follow-to-join (I-824) to my EB2 GC, which I got in Nov 2018 through AOS. The interview went well, as expected. It's done in 30 minutes. some basic questions asked, and that was it. My son was told that they intend to issue the IV in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully it is 2-3 days in actual.

 

Like to thank everyone in this forum for sharing the info. Otherwise this 2 year 4 months wait would be completely in dark.

 

Below is our journey I like to share and hopefully is useful to someone in similar situations.

 

1) This EB IV is technically sponsored by my employer, even if it is I-824 and I have already got my GC.

- so you can not change employer until this is done.

- or you have to file a new I-824, and start all over again

- for this interview, my company's immigration lawyer couriered him the Verification of Employment letter, and I send him last few pay stub as proof that I still work there.
 

2) I could go through the family sponsorship route. Because of the delay, I applied for I-130 based F2A since my son was 17 at the time

-I submitted an application in July 2020 (my DQ date was Nov 2019), and I have not heard anything this far. Don't care now

- and even if I-130 is approved, the DQ date will be re-set anyway

 

3) Potential conflict with non-IV

- my son got accepted at UCSD and Waterloo for EE, and in September 2021, there was no hope of IV. Of course I want him to come to California and join me.

- my immigration lawyer advised that my son can not apply for F1 while waiting for IV - that's wrong. I ignored her advice.

- So I asked my son to pay for Waterloo's tuition and start enrollment first, but he did not do that - that's foolhardy.

- I am very worried that when applying for F1, if asked about any pending immigration petition,  you have to disclose and be honest about it. And they may decline the F1 because of that. That's why Waterloo is the backup.

- fortunately, F1 for Canadian born student is so easy (at the airport), and fed questions was asked,  not including that question I was worried about. So he didn't have to make such disclosure.

- because he has been in US for a while, I also asked him o get the US Police Report (requirement is stay over 6 months) just in case -  not quite 6 months for him

- and during the interview today, they did not ask about the F1

We are approved today  but the visa will be pending till we send the updated RCMP police certificates that is taking longer than expected. I applied for the police certificates on February 2nd but not received yet. The officer at the consulate said everything is fine. They will keep the passports until I send the updated rcmp police certificate. We spent less than 1 hour inside the consulate. We met two officers. The first one asked for passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate, US address, photos, and police certificates, then took fingerprints. Then the second made the oath that we are telling the truth, asked about previous stays at USA, my job in Canada and what I plan to work in USA (note that I am a self petitioner and don't have a US employer yet). They didn't ask for any financial documents. Overall the experience was smooth and things went well. I hope now that I get my RCMP police certificate soon and sent via mail to the consulate. 

I did the medical on Monday February 14 in Vancouver. It went great, and the doctor was very nice.

@era101 Congratulations of your visa approval.I  am a little confused here about self petition and having no employer. If you are applying based on employement, arent you supposed to have job and sponsored by employer?? Asking just for my knowledge.  Am I missing something here??
