I just checked my status shows as at "NVC" too. @Sorrel Hoping this is a leading indicator for folks who will be getting an interview letter this month. Spreadsheet says that your DQ date is March 2020? That would be a significant movement if this assumption is accurate. Fingers crossed!

Yes DQ'ed March 2020.  Looking forward to some movement!

I am in similar boat. As far as I understand, you will need to get the PCC of that country. In my case, I was born in India and when I submitted my docs to NVC, I submitted India's PCC. Now if I travel again, I will have to get the PCC re-issued. Other than this, I couldn't find any other issue.

If you have never been to the country u are travelling to and visiting for less that 8 month, you don't need to do anything.

But there is the list of countries you traveled to in your application.
No need to update this list?

Good point. I am assuming that the list of countries traveled is at the time of submitting the application. They cant really take 2 years to schedule the interviews and except us not to travel anywhere :)

I am saying 2 years as my DQ date is June 2021 and the way things are going it looks like a long wait.

Hi @Sorrel Thanks for sharing, just wanted to confirm since it wasn’t clear from your earlier question: Did your status on NVC show/recently change to “Ready to be scheduled for interview”? Appreciate if you can share any details. It’s possible you were asking a general question and we assumed your status changed recently…please let us know :)

I strongly agree but if you are waiting for an interview inside the US you are not allowed to travel and must submit I-131 to get approval for that. I asked my lawyer (still waiting for a response) if there is any equivalent process when waiting outside of the US.

No my status is still the same😢!  It was a general question, just wondering if this was a prelude to the IL going out.

Hmm...interesting....I did not know about i-131 for USA based applications....Please let me know here what you find.

I will check with my lawyer as well.

Hi

I want to share with you . I asked my lawyer  regarding visit and she said you just need new pcc. If you are outside of country and you receive the IL then you will face problem. She said you already have waited for interview and if want to reschedule the interview then you will have to wait again . Therefore, I am thinking if case is in Dq in 2020 then I will wait minimum next 3 to 6 months more for interview. I have plan to travel in November. Please if you guys have more knowledge, share it with me.

Thank you

You are able to travel however if you get the IL and are scheduled while you are away, then yeah, that's a bummer because you will have to either come back or ask to be rescheduled (but my understanding is you are not put to the end of the line, they just give you another date according to your DQ date).  We applied for consular processing while living in the States for the main reason of being able to travel freely while waiting for the interview date.

Which visa were you on while applying for Consular Processing?

I was told that if I have a pending I-485, I will not be able to extend my TN visa.

I checked with my lawyer as well. They mentioned that there is no need to get any pre-approval (similar to i-131 for USA based application). Also they mentioned that there is no need to get the new PCC as PCC's are valid for 2 years. Since my PCC for India was issued March-2021, even if I travel in November to India again, my current PCC will still be valid and may not need to be reissued till March-2023. There shared me below link from NVC (check the bottom of the page for PCC):

Civil Documents (state.gov)

@Gha : Can you please check with your lawyer again? I am assuming that your PCC is also less than 2 years old and may NOT need to be reissued.

As far as getting an IL while I am outside Canada (visiting India) is a dream :) I am DQ'ed in Mar-2021 so I highly doubt I will get IL soon. I am planning to travel between Nov to Jan.

If for some reason I get IL while I am travelling, since they send IL's at least 1 month in advance, I plan to come back, get medical done and appear for Interview. Since I don't need to re-issue PCC it should work out. Also worst case if my lawyer is wrong and I do need to re-issue India PCC, consulate officer will most likely ask me to submit after the interview (I hardly think they will deny case due to PCC, especially when I already submitted the India PCC to NVC). I don't think we need to ask for rescheduling interview if we get IL while travelling as it might take them longer to reschedule.

What you guys think?
