Hi everyone,

I just found out my husband in CA has received docs from the Sydney Consulate in regards to my upcoming interview. He said that the case number is the same as what the NVC assigned us. Does this sound right? It is for CR-1.

thanks, and congrats to all who have recently received their visa's!!

11-05-06 Sent I-130 to California

06-01-07 INTERVIEW

06-04-07 Received VISA in the mail. Silly Consulate issued me CR-1 instead of IR-1, no time to change it in Australia, will try to change it once in California.

06-10-07 POE SFO

06-21-07 Receive SSN#

07-12-07 Receive Green Card in the mail STILL HAD CR1 INSTEAD OF IR1

12-10-07 Finally sent I-90 asking for a new green card with correct info.

06-17-08 INFOPASS - Was told USCIS sent new green card to old address back in Jan. Will resend it but may not be able to correct error as it was made by Consulate not USCIS.

What to do now??

Also, I have been given and interview date and time. So what is the check list I keep hearing about that I have to send back to the consulate in order to get and interview date? And I have my medical this week, I am assuming that have to use the case number SYD........... as this is the only number the consulate gave me?

:help:

Yes, the case number assigned by NVC is what the consulate or embassy will refer to it by, NVC is a department of the Department of State, just like the Embassies, and Consulates.

The checklist referred to is the DS-2001 or DS-169 or OF-169 depending on the consulate.

Every consulate's procedure is different and not all consulates use a checklist.... Since you have been given your interview time apparently yours does not ......

YMMV

I filed for a K1 visa and the case number NVC assigned is the same case number that the our embassy(Cairo) used.

Good Luck with your interview!

That is because NVC and the Embassy are both parts of the Department of State. Edited by YuAndDan
