Good afternoon!

I’m traveling back home to Ireland in July with my husband (USA citizen) and newborn daughter. My passport is a British passport and is in my maiden name- my Advance Parole is in my married name- do I just ensure I travel with my marriage certificate? What other documentation do I need? My NOA? Very concerned about traveling- especially in the current climate. I keep seeing things about people being separated from their families and I know I’m probably worrying unnecessarily but I’m still really nervous.

Book the ticket in your passport name for an easier time with the airlines counter.  Take a copy of your marriage certificate to show name change if there are any questions back in the US when presenting your AP card.

Pinned thread with suggestions of documentation to carry below. This is for domestic flights, but the advice on documentation to carry also applies...just more strictly for international flights (i.e. you need a passport and AP...cover letters and such won't cut it).

The main items to carry are ID (passport), AP, and any documentation connecting the 2 (i.e. the marriage certificate for a name change).

Your ticket has to match your passport without exception. I say this as an airline employee of 19 years and counting. It doesn't matter what name is on your driver's license, green card, AP card, library card, Costco card... the airline is concerned with ensuring that the person travelling is the person on the reservation, and for this purpose for international travel the ticket and passport must match.

Keep the marriage certificate with you as proof of legal name change as the airline agent over there is required to ensure that you have authority to enter the USA on a ticket with no return date when you check in to come back (as you will be returning on the final coupon).
