I learn some not so good news about my fiance this evening .My fiance who  lives in Cameroon and his friend were on their way to get his passport in the capital and he and his friend among many others was aressted on thurday. I am comeplety devastated and dont know what to do.i do not know the charges as of yet. A friend of mines that is over there got a lawyer and will try to get them out this week. i was suppose to be heading to Cameroon next week but now im having second thought about my own safety over there.

I had plan on doing the K1 visa but i feel since he got arrested and cant even get his passport i dont see how i can even file.

if anybody can give me advice i would greatly appappreciate it.

Thanks

The k1 visa takes anywhere from 8 to 12 months to be approved. So if you file now, it's going to be more then thought time for your fiance to pick up his passport.

Not sure why are you worried about it. Unless he got arrested for something extremely serious and won't be out of jail for a while - then I guess he can't pick up his passport. But if he get a release soon then I'm not sure what's the problem in picking up passport.

But I suppose it all depends on why he got arrested.

Until you know what the charges and potential punishment are, there's not much you can do. Focus on that matter first before filing the K-1 paperwork.

He was arrested because they thought he was an activist. iv been inform by the lawyer that he trying his best to get him out since he has never been involved in any of the things he is being accused of.

I'm just praying he gets released soon.

We received NOA1 last May 10, im just worry to get RFE my fiance stated he was arrested way back 1998. Disorderly conduct, trespassing, and drug paraphernalia. But when he got his police report it was just one case of arrest which is just disorderly conduct. He still stated The 3 cases even if just one case on his police report, because he told me those 2 might be gone now on the police record but USCIS double check the his back ground. He said he dont want to lie and get in trouble. Is that okay we sent our case without statement on his lose criminal record? Im anxious about our case 😞
