Just do it yourself unless your case has any complications (divorces, children immigrating, criminal records etc). The process is very straightforward, you just need to read everything related to your visa type on the USCIS website and if you have any problems, the forum has most of the issues answered already or you can post questions if you still can't find the answers :) Good luck!

Does anyone think that it's worth the $375 to use rapid visa? I'm nervous about making a mistake in the paperwork.

Do not use them. I did and I ended up getting screwed with longer wait time due to them not filing all my evidence in which I ended up getting a RFE. Needless to say what was originally a 6 month wait turned into 13 months. Filing instructions are on the USCIS site for free along with the forms you need. Save yourself the grief and file yourself.

They have a very bad reputation on here.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Doing my myself. I never even knew there was a service when I started. The instructions are pretty clear and like people said the forums are very helpful.

If you’re really nervous and want to use a prep service, consider citizenpath.com, they’re much cheaper and they just do forms. They basically give you the “turbo tax” method of doing it where they ask you dummy proof questions and then fill it all in for you.

As others have said, it’s really not that bad to do it yourself. But if you  really want help with the form then check them out.

You may also find example forms (filled out with dummy data) here on VJ. But be careful, VJ is horrible about leaving outdated forms as templates, so be very sure the form version matches the current USCIS form.

Have fun!

I hired a lawyer, but knowing what I know now as long as there isn't any special circumstance I would have done it myself. It's not too difficult, lots of advice found on here, the forms have good instructions you just need to be thorough and make sure you submit all the evidence required.

After a bit of basic reading on here, I followed the guides to complete our K1 paperwork. Do it yourself and join a month group to ask questions as you go through the process. I actually think that even if I'd had the extra money to throw at a lawyer or rapidvisa, I still would have done it myself because it gives you a sense of control.

Unless you have an extremely complicated situation, you can complete the paperwork yourself.

The questions are pretty straightforward and you can always come here to ask for clarification on anything you may be confused on.

My Advice:  Save the money for future expenses related to this process.

Did you use a service or do it yourself?

I used a service for my wife's(then fiance) visa only because I was working in Afghanistan at the time. All they do is collect all the documents from you and send them in that is it. They don't do anything special and they CAN NOT make your the timeline go any faster, in fact they have been known on here to actually slow down someone's petition due to them messing up. Once my wife got here I did AOS and ROC all with the help of people on here and I saved the $1k they were going to charge me for doing it.

If you have the time and your case isn't complicated then do it yourself.

No i dont recommend it, do it by yourself. I know you have been nervous, but if you paid for them they would make you frustrate and more nervous. It took me 2 months to finish my case. So many people here regreted by paying for them. One of people that I know had to start it again.
