Great!   Thank you for providing me with confirmation that 12 months is the correct validity period.  It was also interesting to see the copy of the certificate you received and noted that the Clearance Certificate itself does not have an expiration date on it.   I am currently in Bangkok with my Fianceé, so we will go make our request next week.

I see that you and I are both received our NOA1 on 12/28/2017. :)    I hope both of us will have our NOA2 notices in the next 30 to 60 days.

With the information you posted, I was able to locate a couple of additional US State official pages that also confirm the 12 month period of validity for Visa Applications.   I am posting the following links as they may be helpful to others in the future.

1)  https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/RGA%20-%20Riga.pdf

Police clearance letters are valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. You are not required to renew a police clearance letter from your previous country of residence if you have not travelled to that country after the date of the issuance of such letter.

2) https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected/diversity-visa-prepare-supporting-documents.html

ImportantPolice certificates expire after one year, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

  • You are more than 16 years old;
  • The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and
  • You still live in the country that issued the certificate.

Looks good to me. Also if you haven't started on vaccinations or need a place to get them done, I recommend This place.

http://www.saovabha.com/en/default.asp

It's the Thai red cross and I found it thru recommendations from Visa Journey, and it is the place to go. We went on a Monday morning and got the process started by checking in, and seeing the doctor. Told him I wanted to do the whole 9 yards, every vaccine possibly needed for her ( I even picked up a few myself it was so cheap) So he recommended we do a few of them the flu shot and something else I think the Tdap, then they drew blood to see if she could test out of any of the other vaccines. So we came back Friday the same week because they only do tests every other day, or every 3 days, something like that. Luckily we did the blood work because she already had the chicken pox antibodies and this way we had proof of it, so that was one of the more expensive vaccinations. Then he set up everything else available. 3 of them were a 3 series shot, so we did the first series that day, she went back a month later and got the second series, and the 3rd series is scheduled for September 15th or so. Then she is all done with anything they could possibly ask for. They give you a nice vaccination booklet to keep with you and get updated every time you go there, then you have it to show at your medical exam, plus any blood work results. I think so far I am into the whole vaccination thing for around 2200 baht. The last round of shots should be only another 8-900 baht, and then were done. Figure a little over 3000 baht for everything, around 100 bucks US. I know if you wait to get vaccinations done at the medical exam you will be out a few hundred on top of the exam depending what they decide you need, and if you wait til then you only have the first series of some of the shots, good enough to get you by and into the US, but then if you never complete the series I think they are only like 60-70 percent effective, and you don't want to pay US prices for vaccinations. Even if you want to cheap out you could get the whole series you minimally need to get approval for under 1500 baht I would say, and do this a few weeks before the medical exam.

I was just there in March of 2018 with my Thai fiancee. We were in no hurry to get the certificate, so we just paid the 100 baht fee, and another 80 baht for postage to have it mailed to her. It arrived in about 5 weeks. We were laughing the whole time as we were " Offered " express processing and have the certificate ready for pickup in only 3 days for 1500 baht.

Today my Fianceé and I visited the Thai  Police Clearance Service Center and had a similar experience.   As we are still 30 to 60 days away from NOA2 notification, where are in no immediate hurry to obtain my Fianceés certificate, the standard processing times are acceptable to us.

The biggest challenge was locating building 24, which is buried behind several other buildings.  But after receiving assistance from a couple of helpful officers we located the entrance to the office (which was clearly marked in English).   Upon entering the office, immediately to our right was a reception desk where we were greeted and asked to sit down.

After sitting down, we received the sales pitch to request a 1600 baht express VIP service.    I replied that I did not require express service and pointed to the "Instructions for Thai Police Clearance Certificate" that the Bangkok US Embassy states "There is a 100 Baht fee for the police clearance and no express service or any extra charges" and said this is the service I am requesting.  The response from the officer was that the standard service would take 3 months.   I then responded by showing them the Embassy Instructions that state "Applicants with no criminal record, or behavior endangering peace and order or security of State, will receive a police certificate within three weeks."  Next we were asked to hand over our supporting documentation.   We provided what is noted on the instructions.  In addition, we were also asked to provide a copy of my Fianceés Single Status Certificate, a copy of my US Passport Bio pages, and a Letter of Intent to Marry.   I was prepared for the first two items, but did not have a copy of our Letter of Intent.  I pointed out that the Embassy instructions do not state that the Letter of Intent is necessary, and that was the last time the letter was mentioned.  For a "Requesting Letter" we provided a copy of our NOA1 letter which was accepted without any questions

I had the impression that we were getting the hard sell on the express service, but once the officer recognized I was not interested in the offer, normal processing began as Loren describes in his posting.   The only difference is our return postage fee was requested at 50 baht.

We were provided with a receipt for the 100 baht processing fee and a "PICK UP FORM" stating that our certificate is due to be mailed by July 18th (six weeks from today).

One last note, we arrived at the office at about 2:30PM and we were apparently lucky as no others were waiting ahead of us.  We were greeted and serviced immediately.   Other than the hard sell on express services and the scare of the suggestion of waiting 3 months for standard service, all went smoothly.

Glad it was simple like when I went. Sounds like my experience exactly. I kept seeing posts on here you can't use NOA 1 to get the certificate, now that has been proven wrong twice. I think we were charged 80 baht for postage because it was being mailed to Phuket. Not sure if that's why it was a little more. Another tip, and I will be interested to hear your input on it since you have some serious time like myself in Thailand. The postal service in Thailand I have never been able to figure out. My MIT degree just doesn't cut it. The fact that mail makes it to anyone's house is simply amazing. What I did was me and my fiance set up a post office box at her local post office. It was 300 baht a year for the box, with a 200 baht key deposit. I tried mailing all sorts of things to her house and they never made it. Since we have had the box since March, everything I have sent, and everything important ( police certificate) etc. Has shown up with no problems and in record time. This I hope is going to simplify the process down the line when we register for GSS or whatever it is, and this way we have a good address for the passport with visa in it , and any other communication from the embassy when the time comes. You said you will pick up the certificate at the office, so you will probably have it in 3-4 weeks, where ours took about 5 because they mailed it. Thanks for the detailed information, nice to see it seems to be the same for everyone.

For those who will visit be visiting the office in the future, this appears to be the Application they had my financeé complete.   Reviewing it prior to visiting the Thai Police Clearance Center may be helpful.   (Note that she completed the first page.  The second page was not presented to us.)

I have had 100% success sending postal mail to my Fianceé.  I have sent her  many post cards over the last year from the US (mainly to present as supporting evidence of an on going relationship) and many packages drop shipped from Aliexpress (mostly shipped directly from China) and everything has made it to her home.  It takes about 10 days for mail to arrive from the US to her.  I have sent probably a couple dozen mailing in total.  She lives in a village where there are no street names which I think would complicate things, but we have not experienced any problems.   Where she lives, each property has a number designation, although they are not sequential, but somehow the post office finds her.   At this point, I think I have sent enough items that they recognize her name on the packages and know where to go.

Her address follows this pattern (note not her real address)

#150 Moo 12 Tambon Bon Chon

Amphoe  Mueang Kamphang Phet, Kamphaeng Phet

Thailand 62000

In this example, 150 is her house number.   I think the house numbers are assigned as larger properties are subdivided into smaller ones before home construction.   So the final physical order on a map would appear somewhat random.   Her village is divided into "Moo"s and are numbered.  Tambon is the district (village name) with in the city.  Amphoe Mueang indicates that she is in the capital city of the province.  In this case, the City name and province name are both the same, so that is why it appears to be repeated.

So, yes it is amazing the postal worker knows where to go, but fortunately they do in our case.   The idea of a postal box is a good one though.

And our Clearance Certificate will be mailed as well as you had done.   My fiancee filled out the return shipping envelope and the officer collect 50 baht for postage.   I think they gave us the pickup notice as indication of when to expect delivery by.

Following up....   My Fiancée's Police Certificate arrived in the mail today to our Thailand address.   The certificate was mailed on July 17th and arrived on July 19th (Thai time).   So 43 days for standard processing service.

Outstanding information JoelThai.   Thanks for this.

The sample listed on the website shows the invitation letter.   No mention of the NOA1 or NOA2.   I gather the NOA1 essentially replaces the invite letter based on your experience.   We will make sure we have both on hand.

Yes, presenting the NOA1 letter should not present any issues.   I am aware of several other K1 applicants who have done the same.  Just be ready with the "Letter of intent to marry" along with the other documents that the Bangkok Embassy lists on their instructions and you should not have any issues.
