All I know is that after 16 years of appeasement under the last two Presidents, NK just got bolder and bolder and were launching missiles into sovereign state Territory. After 1 year of " I will not appease you I will destroy you,  No more Missiles and I understand he just destroyed a nuclear facility today

Go back a little further in history. It’s been going on a lot o get than 16 years.

They think Donnie by acting like a strongman or a bully, means he's done far more to change the circumstances on the Korean Peninsula. He hasn't, North Korea would've had a nuke years ago if it wasn't for the diplomats under the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.

Didn’t they actually complete their development of nuclear weapons under Obama?

I know right. I wish the fringe could put aside their hatred of Trump long enough to admit we are finally moving the peg.

Where have we moved the peg to? We are even closer to possibly having a meeting in the future? It doesn't happen until it happens.

KJU "destroying" the facility has nothing to do with us.

That being said, I am sad the meeting didn't go through. Even with a small chance of a deal, I would have liked to see it happen.

Also gotta say I chuckled a bit at the "letter". You can always tell what Trump has his hand in writing and when he stays away. He definitely influenced this one.

Korean Perjury Trap- one of the most underrated bands of 2018. Giuliani says trump more likely to eventually sit down with KJU than Mueller as at least he won't try to trap him into Korean Perjury.

Obviously very disappointing to some to see progress being made after years of nothing.

Their first nuclear test was while Bush was President.

I stand corrected.  Some though seem to think all the nuclear development was done in the past year and a half.

I feel like KJU took a page out of Trump's playbook. Now the headlines are "Trump cancelled, KJU still willing to meet". Makes him seem reasonable.

That being said, he was doing the typical thing that North Korea does in these situations. They make initial overtures towards peace talks and then get increasingly unrealistic with their demands to the point where things break down.

Seriously be specific. What progress is being made on the diplomacy front?

You mean the act of god that destroyed their test site? That's not really diplomacy.

You mean the meeting with South Korea? There was one in 2007. A lot of good that got us.

The meeting with Trump would have indeed been significant progress, but it didn't happen.

He had to get in something about how "massive and powerful" we are (he is)

As much as I'd love to see people like Iran and North Korea disarmed, the US definitely has a bit of a "hypocrite" problem sitting on our massive stockpile of weapons that could destroy the planet several times over.

An expert, Robert E Kelly has an interesting thread

So what happened to the summit? 1. Trumpian incompetence The common thread across the failures of the N Korea summit, Obamacare repeal, the wall, infrastructure, China trade, etc. is Trump’s laziness & disinterest in the grunt work required by his job. ‘Presidenting’ is hard,/1

Very good news to receive the warm and productive statement from North Korea. We will soon see where it will lead, hopefully to long and enduring prosperity and peace. Only time (and talent) will tell!
