What is a processing hold? (split)

Hey guys, I called uscis yesterday and spoke with a tier 2 officer over my i751 application which have remained pending since Dec 2016. The tier 2 officer told me that my case is on a processing hold. Anyone knows what that is? I didn't use a divorce waiver and still happily married to my wife whom I have a child together with. The tier 2 officer further told me that it seems I didn't respond to something they requested for and I told him I never received nothing in the mail. He advised me to go to the uscis local office which I have already made an info pass appointment. Please, anyone with knowledge of what this means or had similar experience. Thanks.
