I am currently in the process of waiting for NOA2 for my CR1 visa application, I have a Wells Fargo checkings account where I get paid as an independent contractor (I work outside of the US but my client is an American company). My husband says he can't add me to any of his accounts because I don't live in the US, could I add him to my account instead?

You can certainly try to do that but you might have to do it at a physical location

That's fine, I live in the border and have a tourist visa. Hopefully they'll let me do so, thank you!

Wouldn't it be faster (and get a direct answer) if you just CALL THE BANK

Totally agree with this. I was not aware the OP lives on the border so either way could work out for the OP.

If its a US Bank account you can add him to it if He is the USC (they have to have social security number).

TD Bank, which is Canadian, has a Canadian and US companies. I can add My fiance (canadian) to my US accounts because its the same bank, essentially, and have their own internal methods of ID verification. Plus, he also has TD accounts and this way (we are told....) he helps maintain and bring his credit rating to the US, or at least have it started. We'll see if thats true or not.

If my branch weren't 3 hours from me, we would have added him by now lol

But yes, adding someone to an account you have to do in person, and you BOTH may have to be there, im pretty sure.

My fiancé added me to his (now ours) Wells Fargo account.

there is no need for ssn or residency.

2 types of ID is needed (passport and credit card is what I used) and we used his home address. Both people has to be physically present.

No SSN needed. ID verification is done by showing 2 types of IDs.
