My NOA2 was sent out on 4/27/18.  I gave the NVC three weeks to receive the petition, and started calling on 5/18/18.  Every time I call the 603-334-0700 number, they say they received the petition on 5/10/18 and that it could take 8 weeks to process.  I check the timelines on here, and it looks like almost all the other visa petitions arrive for a few days, have been assigned a number, and are sent to the consulate.  I've been calling Monday through Friday for a week, and I receive this answer every time.  Is anyone else receiving this answer?  Is there any way they're not giving me the most current information over the phone?

Of course they could be giving you inaccurate information; but NVC has slowed down lately so it could be 6-8 weeks as far as I know lately.

I've seen it's slowed down there for the CR1 visas, but K1 look like they're moving along at a little over a week, and it's making me paranoid.  I was wondering if I should wait for a letter or is there any point in checking with the consulate if the NVC says they haven't assigned a number over the phone.

I called today after the long weekend and was told that supervisor review can take up to 6 weeks, which I don't understand because this is a K1 visa and not a CR1 or another kind of visa.  Holding my breath that they don't wait another six weeks to assign a case number and send it on to Sydney!

Have any other K1 visa applicants had to go through Supervisor Review?
