Hubby and I are thinking of going camping for the weekend of my Birthday..

I have been having a heck of a time finding a campground though... I originally wanted to stay at a campground close to the ocean but all the campgrounds I have found are already all booked up :P

I have found a few other campgrounds that are not close to the ocean but seemed nice but they are all either closed or booked up too...

I have found one campground that sounds nice ... It is called Burnt Rancheria in the Cleveland National Forest.... It is located east of San Diego...

I was just wondering if anyone has been there or heard of it....

or if you knew of any other good campgrounds in southern California... we would either want to stay close to the ocean or in a nice wooded area.. with flush toilets... I think I can get away without having a shower for 2 days but I need flush toilets.... the Burnt Rancheria campground has showers but they are cold showers... :P

We really don't want to drive more then 2 hours from Los Angeles....

Shoot, I forgot to spell check the thread title.... I meant California :P

It may be a little beyond how far you want to drive, but Big Sur has some beautiful beaches and great hiking.

There is a state beach just south of San Clemente named San Onofre State Beach. At the end of the park by what they call trail 6 are some really good camp groups. We used to camp there each weekend and surf there at the bottom of trail six. The famous surf beach, Trussels, is close.

yeah, I was looking into that but it is a bit far.... we would be leaving Friday after hubby comes home from work around 3pm, so we don't want to get anywhere to late... don't want to set up the tent in the dark ....

do you remember if that campground had a lot of privacy between campsites?
