Hi everyone,

My NOA1 receipt date was 3rd November 2017, and VJ estimated I should have heard something last week, however, USCIS processing times say they are only on inquiries dated October 24th 2017. I can see that there are people who had gotten their NOA1 after me have now received their NOA2; is this normal, should I be concerned? I'm just hella confused and nervous right now. Fear is that it's been lost among the other petitions.

Thanks anyone for your help.

Lisa

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You should get yours any second. I had the same anxiety. My PD is July 24 and I saw people from the same service centre getting their NOA2s with a PD of July 27...August 1...August 7... before me. It's really random and makes the heart ache, but you're that much closer! Other people around your date getting their NOA2s is a good thing!

I imagine in my head that there is a warehouse somewhere on the east coast of the USA filled with boxes full of files. And a bunch of workers randomly grabbing whatever is closest to them to go through. Your "box" has petitions from your date +/- 3 weeks I'd say. Really all you can do is wait. You can call them too if you like. Good luck!

Nebraska Service Centre / Frankfurt Embassy

2016/03/30 - Married!

2017/07/14 - Sent off our I-130 packet to the Chicago Lockbox (Filed from abroad)

2017/07/24 - NOA1 (sent to Nebraska)

2018/03/02 - NOA2 (Approved!)

2018/03/19 - "We sent your petition to the Department of State"

2018/03/23 - NVC received petition

2018/05/17 - Case# received and fees paid

2018/05/21 - Case# changed -- can't log in with the new one so "we've sent in a 'ticket' to get it fixed"

2018/05/22 - Scan date. Ticket worked, submitted all our paperwork until the wee hours of the morning.

2018/06/11 - CC!!! "Documentarily Qualified"

2018/06/25 - Got interview date for July 11; but we must reschedule for August.

2018/06/26 - Medical

2018/06/28 - New interview date received (for August 13th)

2018/08/13 - Interview in Frankfurt!!! They asked for certified translations.

2018/08/28 - Sent in translations

2018/09/06 - CEAC status changed to "ISSUED!!!"

2018/09/13 - Passport received in the mail! Everything is beautiful.

It's normal, they don't process cases strictly in chronological order, when I was waiting for my NOA2, I'd see people with NOA1 dates at the end of the month approved before mine.

The VJ timeline estimates can be a bit off too, cause like it says, it's just an estimate based on others' approvals, but it is fairly common for it to take longer.

I understand that it is absolutely nerve-wracking but it will come soon, try to not fret so much, there are people from the October filers that haven't gotten their NOA2s either.

Once your date appears on the USCIS processing times then you can call them or send them an enquiry. :)

Yes, this is normal. While generally cases filed sooner are adjudicated sooner, there are many, many factors involved that result in petitions not being handled in a strictly first-come, first-served manner. It is not a sign of anything wrong with your petition. It could be some background check hit that needs to be investigated (common name?). It could be a slower USCIS case worker, or one who is out of the office or working on different types of cases currently. It could be verification of a document. Most of it is pretty random, though...you just have to wait it out.

The USCIS processing charts are usually outdated by a couple months. They are what USCIS goes by for determining if a case is outside normal processing times, but don't guarantee anything.

The VJ estimate is just that...an estimate. Nobody knows the exact processing times, especially for an individual case.

Thank you for letting me know this, I thought they would do it by chronological order! Since that is not the case I will clam down a bit now.

I really appreciate you both! :)

From my scans, they are about 25% through November 3rd cases (in the thread you can see a chart!) and they seem to processing beginning of the month this week.

You are a blessing, thank you! I looked at the chart but I didn't understand it very well the first time, I've taken a second glance and I now see the approved vs unapproved part at the bottom.

Thanks again :)
