I will only have one pack of birth control on me when I move to the US next month. What are my options as far as continuing to stay on BC?

My doctor here in Canada has given me refills for a year, but I only get about 3 packs at a time. My mom has offered to get my prescription from the pharmacy and then get them to me when she comes to visit. Is this illegal/not the right way to go about it?

I really have no idea what to do.

As long as I know, you are allow to bring your prescribed medications to USA as long as you have doctor's note with it. You can bring by yourself or someone else can bring it in for you. All you need is to have a doctor's note.

You can also send your medication via regular mail too before you leave for USA. Just let the post office person know that its your prescribed medication.

Hope this helps.

I didn't realize BC pills were so expensive in US. In Australia, I got 4 months supply and only paying  AUD $14...... Maybe I should go and see a doctor now and get some refill.

Most anything related to medical is sky high here.  Why can I buy the exact same birth control pills in Mexico/Philippines for a fraction of the cost?  And not have to see a doctor, you can simply say we get scammed in the USA.

You may want to see a dentist as well.  Visit a dentist here in the USA and see what insanely high prices they charge.

I have insurance and they're free.

It's called Capitalism, everything in the US is inflated....labor, manufacturing, prices are adjusted by how much people will pay for it. Have you seen the cost of becoming a Dr and their malpractice insurance is insane. The pharmaceuticals though..they really are a monopoly and are about as crooked as they come. I saw a statistics on how much money was paid out to lobbyist ....guess who spent the most, pharmaceutical companies, in the 100's of millions.

Actually, not everything is crazy expensive here, clothes and food are pretty reasonably priced I would say but there you have a free market, real competition and true capitalism.

But totally agree about pharmaceutical companies.
