My doctor is in Mexico.  Living near the border, I see him every month.  I will bring 2-3 months of medications with me across the border.  Always declare them.  Always bring my prescription with me.  Never had a problem.  The border guards are familiar with people like me who prefer the simplicity and quick professional services in Mexico vs the messed up US insurance based nightmare for medical services.

I believe that the brand I’m on currently is already a generic version! So I could ask my doctor to provide me with a written prescription and get that filled in the US?

Your US doctor can give you a written prescription to be filled in the US.

If you mean your Canadian doctor, then he/she is not authorized to prescribe medications in the US.

To fill a prescription in the US, you need a US medical professional who is authorized to prescribe in the US.

US prescriptions are not honored in Canada either.

The policy exists because we don't want foreign doctors who will prescribe anything to anyone without an exam as long as money changes hands.  The US Government would lose control over prescription medications if a foreign doctor could prescribe narcotics in the US.  Foreign doctors are not authorized to practice medicine in the US.

So I guess Planned Parenthood is my only option?

I will only have one pack of birth control on me when I move to the US next month. What are my options as far as continuing to stay on BC?

My doctor here in Canada has given me refills for a year, but I only get about 3 packs at a time. My mom has offered to get my prescription from the pharmacy and then get them to me when she comes to visit. Is this illegal/not the right way to go about it?

I really have no idea what to do.

OP:

You have some options, that if you'd like to continue on with birth control, should be discussed with your fiancé asap.

Does your fiancé have health insurance? If so, upon marriage it would be very responsible to add you to his coverage as his spouse. For most ladies, birth control would be free or very low cost. Any of the drugs offered in Canada are likely to be the same in the US. You'll need to see a US doctor though that accepts the insurance, and then you could discuss your current medication options.

You could also obtain your own insurance in the US upon marriage. There will be a cost either way... but health insurance is pretty much going to be a necessity, and if children are not a priority right now, especially important. Having joint coverage together is also great for future proof down the line.

If for some reason you were intending to wait on having insurance (and in this situation I'm not sure why you would), you'd probably want to go find your nearest Planned Parenthood or sexual health clinic. It's going to cost you out of pocket.

Yeah.  PP is the best way to go.

The US is archaic when it comes to BC.  The religious nuts equate it to abortions, so access to BC for the poor sucks.  Paying $50/month is a tax on poor women and their families.  ####### pills are easier to get than BC.

This is a wonderful system that many of us utilize.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for, thank you! I’ll screenshot this and send it to my fiancé. I’m sure he’ll add me to his coverage plan.

Well you cant get the prescription filled but you can show a dr in the USA what you were on to get a script here for the same product.

When I crossed the border with a RX, it had to be in my name. Not sure how that would work with your mom bringing them. Call CBP and ask, they are really good at helping with questions.

Hey there! I work in an OB/GYN. You can def go to any OB/GYN for a consult for birth control options, not just Planned Parenthood. Have you thought about getting an IUD? They can last from 3 - 10 years, depending on which one you get and you can take them out any time. Nexplanon is another option (the one in the arm) or even the shot! I would try to get these before you leave Canada as it might be cheaper with your provider but your options are not limited here either! Feel free to message me if you any questions!
