Hi all,

My fiancee has her K1 visa interview next month. In the meantime, we were trying to get B2 visas for her parents to attend the wedding. Due to the lack of interview dates, we were wondering if there is a cancellation and we have the opportunity to get an interview for their B2 BEFORE her k1 is approved, will their travel visas not be approved?

They have strong ties to India, such as jobs, real estate, and a good amount of money in an Indian bank account. We also have the wedding plan documentation (emails with vendors etc.). Will the fact that her k1 is not approved yet hurt their chances of getting the B2?

Thanks!

Whether or not they get approved won't be impacted by somebody else's K-1 visa. They will be approved or not based on their individual merits.

OK. I called the NVC non-immigrant section to ask them the same just now and that's exactly what they said. They advised us to be fully transparent regarding the reason for the visit, which is what we intended anyway.

Calling US TravelDocs was a stupid move. The guy there could not manage anything above a mumble of barely coherent English and would not answer any question until I gave him a passport number. Waste of time.

Aren’t they just an administrative agency? No point expecting anything of substance from them.

Also, since the wait time for B2 interviews in India is pretty long right now (at least it is in Delhi), I would get on the B2s as soon as possible. Don't wait.

Yeah it looks like they are scheduling as of July. I see cancellations, but since it is a family interview (3 members), somehow it won't let me book the earlier dates since there is usually just 1 cancellation slot that opens. I think it treats 3 individuals as 3 slots somehow. Maybe I'm mistaken. It's frustrating.
