One of my friends (whom of which isn't a member of VJ) had her visa interview at the London consulate on the 21st of Feb 2018. She was put under section 221(g) "pending" (blue form) for pending medical results.

She's had problems with mental health previously, and at Knightsbridge doctors for her medical exam she was told she needed a phsyc exam. She had one and it went well, she got a note from the dr and it was forwarded back to Knightsbridge and they then approved her medical and it was sent over to the embassy.

Fast forward now to around, April (the 7th to be exact). She had heard nothing back, and decided to contact knightsbridge to confirm her medical was in fact forwarded to the embassy; of which, it had been.
She also tried to contact the Embassy, however they refused to give her details and explained that they couldn't disclose any information to her, other than she was in queue for AP (Administrative processing)

She has been checking CEAC, and her status only reads "ready", it doesn't say "administrative processing" or "issued" or anything else.

does this mean that shes not in AP yet? how long is AP currently taking?

What did they tell her at her interview? I always thought they tell you right then and there either you're approved, take your passport and advise you it will be back to you within 7-10 business days OR they tell you then it was denied and give passport back.

he took her passport, yeah. but she was given a blue slip "221g pending". the embassy required her medical examination results before they could issue her visa. but the medical practice sent off her results on april 7th and she's heard nothing since

That's...honestly scary. I've never heard of it taking that long. I've always read on here that if the medical results aren't there at the time of interview that it's usually sent within a week after. If they took her passport she should have been approved. I'd be contacting the embassy....

she's not been refused because you get notice of refusal through email or by mail. she's supposed to be in administrative processing [hence my post], but it seems to be taking forever  usually on the CEAC website it will say "administrative processing", however hers just says "ready"

From what I've read this shouldn't be under the category for medical purposes. They may have sent her petition back to USCIS for reconsideration. I honestly have no clue I've just read a little on it. I would consult a lawyer at this point.

I understand your post. What I'm saying is if it was just to wait on the medical results she would have got her passport back by now. Something else may be going on with her case. Read the links I shared on here.

That sounds standard to be honest. If her pending was due to the medical only and she passed it, they just gotta process that. According to a lot of VJ users Knightsbridge is experiencing a back log and it’s taking a while for them to send information over to the embassy. She can keep calling them and asking for updates but it’s nothing to be so worried about. They’ll process her new information soon. AP can take anywhere from days, to weeks, to months to years. There really is no way of knowing how long it will take. She can keep tracking on ceac. It will turn to issued when they process it. It doesn’t sound like she’s out of normal processing.

problem is, she wrote to her doctor at knightsbridge and she confirmed that the medical was sent over to the embassy on April 7th. she's heard nothing since, from either knightsbridge or the consulate. no change on CEAC. if she were in AP it would state on CEAC right? just mega confusion for her as to why its been nearly 2 months and she's heard nothing

She could ask the embassy specifically if her medical results have been received to satisfy the 221g notice requirements. They should answer that. Use this form for contact https://uk.usembassy.gov/iv-contact/

If her AP involves further security checks, they will not say why, what they are specifically doing, or how long it may take. If she has Muslim ties herself or her parents,  birth outside the UK especially the Middle East, India, Pakistan and others, or frequent visits to known terrorist countries, she could be delayed. If her name pops up on a security database, they have to do further investigation to make sure she is not the same person on their security list. If she has specific training or skills in certain scientific or military applications, she could be further investigated. Do any of those security things apply to her?

Thanks for the form! I’ll pass it over to her.

and nope - none of that applies to her. The only thing I see being a risk to her case is her previous mental health problems. (Not current anymore however)
