the ease you chose to pack it away without seeking competent legal advice or recourse is telling also, plus your lamenting maybe you can meet another potential spouse for your visit. Are you interested in being married or marrying someone you love? It seems almost casual

Well..to be fair for the OP....she hid the fact that her passport was counterfeited until she realized that oh #######..he bought a ticket for real and is going to come. This really says something about her, even if she had good intentions. But on the other hand I hear what your saying, if she did do it for the right reasons then she could be a really nice person that made a bad mistake....it's not insurmountable to fix it, but he only knows the answer to what to do.

Ummm....she lied to him.  She lied to get a passport.  Cutting his losses after a 6 months online romance with someone who has MAJOR problems immigrating to the US is not a bad idea.  This type of immigration scams where people lie to marry and get green cards is common.

After a 6 months online relationship where she lied to him, he should spend good money for a consultation on what may take years and cost him tons of money.

If this was your brother, would you tell him to hang in there and pay more money when he has trouble getting airfare together?

He's not the problem.  He's being smart and watching out for himself.

I told him to seek advice, not hire an attorney, also he laments the loss of spousal material not the lie, I question the motivation,  it seems to me he considers a bride a commodity, not the result of a loving relationship. To use your analogy I would caution him to be careful in relationships and marry when and if he finds a suitable partner, not find someone who tick most of the boxes on his checklist
