Nearest Starbucks to me is 45 minutes away, but it is good to have that option if you do need to point people in a particular direction.

None of the places near me would allow somebody to table hog all day.

Wow heavy on the stereotypes aren't you.

I'm not the one complaining about pissing next to perceived " drug addicts and homeless".

I have never approved of discrimination but when you get accosted all the time while walking down the street it gets old.

It's even worse .. you are actively trying to justify discrimination.

I think it is unfair to classify homeless as not upstanding citizens. Not every homeless person is one that is a criminal or an addict. Many are veterans, some have some needs, and others have fallen on hard times. I think... well in some respects some compassion is needed.

I completely agree and I am fine with someone that is homeless that has fallen on hard times or needs some help. But the vast majority of the ones I saw in Pasadena were people that were not Veterans or those that have fallen on hard times. When you see the SAME PERSON for 9-12 months that keep giving me the same tired old line about just getting out of prison or needing gas for this or that then it gets OLD FAST.

Also if a homeless person tries to tell me they were a Vet then I will ask them a couple questions about it. If they can't get basic ####### right then I call BS right then and there and they usually scurry away like locusts.

That's why I am glad we moved here to NC because back in CA we had one literally only 5 minutes away by foot. So my wife was there a lot to say the least. Here in NC it's a 10 minute drive away so my wife can't spend a lot of money there anymore YAY.

I have seen this before in Pasadena but mostly it was students that went to Pasadena City College. I have seen guys with a whole game system set up using the wifi there in Starbucks. I will find the picture of it later when I get home to show here.

No not "perceived homeless" but actual homeless that then ask for money right after I wash my hands.

would you allow someone that smelled like a goats butt and reeked of urine and alcohol sit at one of your tables all day

LOL, I've been told by folks who drink beer while I was in the service that beer taste like horse piss. I'm guessing they've tried horse piss. Have you smelled a goat's butt before?

not upstanding citizens

The opposite of an upstanding citizen is, obviously, a down-sitting noncitizen.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Even topping that... a current event in 2006:

BBC NEWS
Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.

The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.

"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up".

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper.

I am lucky, my wife hates Starbucks coffee.  I for one hate coffee, so we have no issues.  About six months ago, they turned the building coffee spot into a Starbucks where I work, of course the prices increased, but people still pay for that #######.

Luckily I bought a Keurig adapter where you can put coffee into a K cup so you can use regular coffee instead of spending money on k cups all the time.

After Starbucks announced that everyone is welcome to use their bathrooms, critics said shops would be overrun by the homeless. Who decides who is welcome and who is not goes back to store employees.
