hi, guys:

I attended the IV interview in Guangzhou on May 17. After about 20 minutes' torture, the VO said: Congratulations, you visa is approved. But it has been 5 days (includes weekend), the CEAC status still shows ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. Is this normal? Or does anyone know the reason?

Posted

Yes it's normal.

AP can take anywhere from couple days to few weeks or few months.

All you can do is wait. Everyone goes through it.

They didn't add the visa to your passport after the interview?  in the past they always issued the visa the same day of the interview, unless they request another document.

They never do that..

You have to leave the passport in the embassy and they put visa in after the AP is done and approved.

No, the VO just took my passport and tied to my file with a rubber band. He gave me a white paper with instructions of how to retreive my passport.

That is perfect!  That is completely normal, just as @Roel stated.  They never issue and return visas on the same day.

they used to do that before. My sister received her visa on the same day of her visa interview. Her interview was in the morning at 9 and they delivered the passport later in the afternoon. They don’t do it anymore now

@Roel was correct.  He was referring to the poster who said " They didn't add the visa to your passport after the interview? "  It is NOT the normal procedure.  The poster implied that the OP's case was not standard procedure.  However, administrative processing is completely normal.

That was very unusual, but wonderful.  It would be great if all cases were handled like that. When and where did this happen, if you don't mind.......

Yes, but all this should be done in the same day.. At least it was for my ex-wife 19 years ago, apparently things have changed.
