Hi All,

Can you please tell me how much 125% of the poverty line is, in figures? for example ...$200000

I have my date for the interview now it is all moving very quickly at the moment.....

Also, do we put in the amount that my wife has earned in england on the form? or is that only for people that live in the states? she has been here for over 2 years.

Thank you

$200,000 is well above.

SEE: Poverty Guidelines

If you have been in the states for more than a year, just count the income here.

Congratulaions on getting your date.

I do beleive that each State has a different poverty level and if so, It is not possible to give a figure amount without knowing what State you reside in and also the number of persons are to be supported such as himself and # of children and her and # of children.

Only the US citizen’s income is counted.

Ron

Poverty level is only in 3 groups, Continental states, and then Alaska, and Hawaii.

The link above takes you to the poverty line guide.

Not always true. If the beneficiaries income will continue even after they immigrate, their income can be included.

Thanks for your reply.

My father in law is going to be our joint sponsor and it's over $200000 so hopefully i wont have anything to worry about, even though my wife is a Student and has not had a proper income for over 2 years.

I really cant believe how quickly it is all moving now, within a week of sending off the third packet we got our date for the interview. Do you know if u have to dress up for it? or is jeans etc ok.

One other question can you please tell me what a US Citizens' rights are in the UK once she married me? (UK citizen). She was here on a student visa and we got married but the student visa isnt going to expire anytime soon.

Thanks again all

ohhh does anyone know a cheap place to get photos done in london? i went into snappy snaps and they charge £10.99 for two photos! or can we do them ourselves with a little bit of photoshop editing?

As long as the photos are within specification the consulate could care less where they come from. The problem with using photo booths or your own capabilities is getting them to specification. Even the "professional" passport houses mess up from time to time.

YMMV

Are you meaning to type $20,000 or $200,000 for your father-in-law's annual income? If it's $200,000 you're lightyears away from having anything to worry about. I'm the sponsor for my husband and I'm having to put an income of $0 but with my dad's income of $50,000 a year we're completely fine for a household of 3.
