Did you guys see the article in today's paper that said the U.S. is increasing immigration fees? The increases will take effect at the end of July. Here's the incredible part: "the cost of bringing a foreign fiance will jump to $455 from $170" and "the price tag for a green card, or permanent resident visa, will rise to $930 from $325, and the cost of citizenship papers will increase to $675 from $330." Cha-ching! Ouch! Why not pay more, we get such outstanding service from the CSC.

This has been discussed a lot around here since it was first proposed back at the beginning of the year. The latest link on the topic is here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70763, if you're curious about more. There's also a large document from USCIS on why they want to increase the fees - it was the proposal they had to publish to give the public a chance to comment on the changes.

It is a bit frustrating for fees to change in the middle of the process. I think all CSC applicants should get a fee break for crappy service!

So if my fiancee is coming the end of June... She should file for her AOS before the end of July to avoid the new fee charge from $325 to $930? Sounds like I might make it for at least one of them, correct?
