Criminal record check

Hi,

I've heard you will need to have a criminal record check. When will this be needed? We just received NOA2. Perhaps I'm blind but I can't seem to find it. Do you need to send this to the embassy? Bring it to your interview?

No issues regarding anything criminal, but I have lived abroad and will need a criminal record check done in another country than my own which seems to be a little complicated and take some time.

Thank you!

You need to read about instructions on your embassy or wait for them to send you.

And yes you need police certification from every country you lived longer than 6 months (in some countries it may be 1 year) after the age of 16. And all countries you have criminal record regardless of how long you stayed.

it is not really complicated but it can take some time so I would start soon.

And yes you usually bring it to the interview unless embassy requested Differently.

Some embassy will waive the criminal record for certain countries,  Philippines is a prime example who don't require them from certain countries

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Embassy doesn’t waive it. Some countries are simply exempt from the list internationally.

Because in some countries it cannot be obtained, or can only be obtained if you are a resident.

Thus it is waived

Yes it is waived. But it is not an embassy specific situation, it depends on the country of the police certification.

Which is important if other people read this in the future, so I just added.

For the Dutch one, apply for the VOG (verklaring omtrent gedrag) at your local "gemeentehuis" Ask for the english/international version. Eventhough the Dutch one is acceptable for the embassy, it's easier to have the English one for the rest of the process. It will take about 10 days to get it. Also you need to get an copy of your birth certificate (uittreksel geboorteregister) For that one you need to go to the city where you were born. Again ask for the international version.

Thanks, I have the VOG and my international birth certificate.

The annnoying part was getting the Canadan 'VOG'. Just got my fingerprints taken yesterday (bye $60) and I'm about to send it overseas to Canada to get my fingerprints digitalized, which is another $220 :/

We received NOA1 last May 10, im just worry to get RFE my fiance stated he was arrested way back 1998. Disorderly conduct, trespassing, and drug paraphernalia. But when he got his police report it was just one case of arrest which is just disorderly conduct. He still stated The 3 cases even if just one case on his police report, because he told me those 2 might be gone now on the police record but USCIS double check the his back ground. He said he dont want to lie and get in trouble. Is that okay we sent our case without statement on his lose criminal record? Im anxious about our case 😞

My fiancé lived in the US last year for just over 6 months. Will he need a conduct report from the US as well? They require you to apply in person over here, so we're a little confused. I found nothing online about obtaining this while abroad.
