Just wondering - with Dr. Stewart were you able to get photocopies of your medical, and if so, did it cost anything extra?

Someone said the envelope won't be opened til the border (since it has to be sealed) - not that I'm worried or anything but I want to see my results before the POE officer does in 4-7 months or so, lol!

With most doctors you have to pay for a copy and that cost varies. I paid $50 for a copy from Dr. Seiden's in Toronto. The only thing you'll get "for free" is a copy of the vaccination worksheet.

You cannot get copies of your medical report, just the Vaccination Worksheet. The envelope stays sealed until POE, and then only the immigration officers look at it.

You will need the Vaccination Worksheet later on for AOS, so make sure you ask them for a photocopy. You can then take the worksheet to the civil surgeon in the U.S. to get the Vaccination Supplement (I-693A) done for AOS. The civil surgeon in our area charged us $35.00 to transfer the information from the worksheet onto the supplement.

Edit: I just read the post above, and was not aware that copies of the medical report were possible. We were told at our medical that it was not possible. Maybe things have changed since I had mine done.

That's okay! I find it a bit strange that people couldn't get photocopies before - if I was worried that I had one of those diseases, etc. (thankfully I'm not ) I would hate to find out at the border (or is it the interview?)!

She said it's against the law to get photocopies and I can't see the results I guess I won't have to worry about paying $50? lol.

But something seems REALLY wrong with that to me!!! You pay for a full medical exam YOURSELF (for me $310 and I don't even earn a lot of $$!!!) and aren't even allowed to know what the results are???

When I received my medical envelope I asked was it possible for a copy of the medical. I was told no not until after I obtain my Visa and if I needed a copy then to contact them and for $50 they would send me one no problem

Dr. Doane said I wasn't to see the medical, that's why it's sealed and states do not open on the envelope. He told me "what would the sense of my sealing the report be and then give you a copy to view it"

Hey .. I had wondered what my results to my tests were .. they had told me that I wouldn't have received the package if I did not have a clean bill of health .. that eased my mind (plus .. you get to actually look at the chest exray )

I dont recall what the name of Rach's doc was (the one in London), but they attached a sticky note to the inner envelope saying all tests were normal at least.

Melytha, if curiosity got you why not go see your family doctor and have him/her do everything the other one did, being an Ontario resident it is free. Just make sure they know you want a copy of all the results before they start, their answer may be no also.

Yeah, I was talking about that with my Dad this morning... thankfully I'm not really worried though I don't think their answer would be no because we found out that the reason for the Embassy approved doctors saying no sometimes is because it's in accordance with American law... I don't think Canadian law allows doctors to withhold critical information from their patients!

I don't believe the Immigration Docs would let one go through all the expense and worry of travelling to Montreal if they thought something in the medical would be grounds for denial

I think the doctors are supposed to tell you if something came up abnormal in the testing.

my husband went to London too and they gave him a photcopy of the medical report and the vac report for no charge

You have too many other things to get done without worrying about what is not in your control.

I'm hoping that when I have my exam done the doc knows how to read the x-rays since i had a ultra sound done two weeks age and I have a benign cyst on each kidney which needs to be re-check in a year or two.
