Sadly this is one of the reasons we shouldn't make any plans, book anything etc before we actually have our visa in hand. Sorry they messed up so bad and lost your application and I hope this mess will be resolved as soon as possible.

The lawyer said sometimes these types of delays take many months and even many years to resolve due to the sluggish government, and no timeline is guaranteed. I won’t be waiting around for them to get in gear. As far as we knew we had an approved petition, an interview at the Consulate, and a clean conscious. I don’t regret making plans based on those three factors... and now with the added factor of total uncertainty regarding the timing of the correction there are certainly no regrets.

Another update for any who are following:

It has been seven weeks since the case has been in transit, and the NVC still has no record of receiving the case. The NVC is even telling my fiance’s Senator this. Montreal and Portsmouth are a five hour drive away from each other, and still, ZERO record of it showing up, even though the Consular officer put a ‘rush’ on it. My future mother-in-law suspects they just threw the case the the garbage :-P

I emailed the Consulate last week to withdraw the case as our wedding is in four weeks: still no response. This is abhorrent. Nobody wants to be accountable for this mistake.... for this blatant USCIS error of not ticking a box!!!
