I received the letter from USCIS that my mom application has been approved and sent it to NVC. How long is it going to take to receive a letter from NVC? What is the next step after that?

For my father, I didn't receive any approval letter. Although I received a letter for request of evidence, which I submitted one month ago since then I didn't hear from them. Online, it's showing they have received the requested document but no progress for one month.

Hey red42,

I would say, it'll take at least 3- 7 business days to receive a snail mail from NVC.  Now, I'm not sure if your home country is included in a pivot  status where everything can be done through online. This is the case where you will submit or download most of your stuff online (pay the fees, submit civil docs and other). Once you received an approval from USCIS, a case number will be provided to you, that itself will take 4-8 weeks to be made available to you. I know, WAITING is NOT fun! They will send the case number to you through EMAIL. With my case, once it reached at the NVC stage , communication with NVC will be converted through an email. I was given an instruction what to do next.  The first thing you need to do is to pay the fees (AOS and IV) for both of your parents. Gather all the necessary documents while waiting such as your tax stuff (3 years tax returns, W2), civil documents such as your BC, MC (if you're married), your proof of citizenship, pictures of you with your parents, your parents MC, their BC's, their police clearances, proof of termination from previous marriages (if applicable), etc. You will also need to fill up those different forms such 1-864, 1864A (if filing tax with another person), DS-260, etc...

With your dad's case, try calling them to find out if they've received it or not.

Anyway, it's good to hear from you. I hope everything will go smoothly!

Best of luck and Keep us updated!

Thank you @dzyrhetom for replying back in detail. I have received the letter for both of my parents (including my father as well) from USCIS that they have approved the petition and sent the application to NVC, and they mentioned I should hear from NVC within 4 weeks if I don't hear within 4 week and then send an inquiry by email. Now I have to hear from NVC. That's true waiting is not an easy thing but I want everything to go in a smooth way and my parents will be here soon!

So you are saying NVC will send an email/ mail within 3-7 business days after approval to assign a case number then it will further take 4-8 weeks to ask and submit fees and forms right!

I think my country has online access and option to fill online.

Hello! I would like to join the group.

I am getting ready to file a petition for my father as well as I-485, I-864, I-864A. I am wondering if I should file I-765 (he is retired already and has a pension in original country). Should I also file  I-131?

Thank you if you can help me with this.

Hey semsem,

You don't need to send the original.  You are only required to send photocopies of those said documents mentioned above, unless they ask for it ( maybe during the interview).

Now, are you married? If so, please don't forget to send in a copy of your marriage certificate. If your Mom is married too, I might as well send a copy of her marriage certificate as well. In addition to your naturalization certificate, I also send in a copy of the biographical page of my passport  just to show proof of domicile.

Best of luck.

Thank you dzyrhetom for your reply.

But let me ask you about which interview you refer to? Are they going to interview me? Or my mom's interview for the immigrant visa?

Now, yes I'm married, but I'm surprised why should I include my marriage certificate in my mom's application?

Also, my mom is widowed, do I still need to send in a copy of her marriage certificate?

I don't have a passport yet, should I wait until I get a passport to include the biographical page? I believe the naturalization certificate is sufficient, isn't it?
